5.0 out of 5 stars Best foundational book on the subject
After seven years of purchasing books here, this is my first review. I think so highly of this book I had to write a review. High quality product, and information. This book may not have enough meat for a graduate student to use but certainaly the greenhouse owner or gardenstore worker will benefit greatly. Nice depth in wide array of topics. Good full color...

1.0 out of 5 stars Practically an advertisement for hydroponic companies
This book claims to have 384 full color pages which sounds impressive until your realize that 3/4 of them are full page ads for hydroponic systems and nutrient suppliers and rhe techniques in this book are pretty much just the instructions that you can find on the packaging of various registered hydroponic products (jiffy blocks, Nutrilife) that the author shamelessly...

Good full color photographs used liberally throughout the book. Very best information available on lighting in the greenhouse or indoor applications. I have read a full dozen books on hydroponics, and greenhouse operations for the home grower or small farm. This is the best. If you need one book this is it.

I have done a great purchase. This book is full of detailed explanations and very useful information, based on scientific facts but with understandable words (I must say I'm not English spoken). Great, Great, Great.

This is a very informative book packed with GREAT information. 1 single resource that covers more ground than many others - really the only book you might need. We found it very beneficial and a complete source of unbiased information. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plethora of useful info at your fingertips, August 5, 2011

Being an empiricist by nature, this book should be considered a must have for any hydroponics endeavour. The book is well laid out and extremely well illustrated. The chapters are short and to the point and offer insight into how to solve issues, not engage in some esoteric discussion of which calcium is better. While there is some discussion of that bature it is kept to a minimum and only brough up when really neccessary. For the most part I use the book as a reference and get the info I need rather than attempting to read it from cover to cover. Using this approach allows me to solve issues and problems, not thumb through the book looking for something I have nearly forgotten or missinterpreted from the beginning. Definately worth the money and with the super saver shipping and the three for special I got all three for less than the retail price of each one, Good score!!!!

At first glance I found the Kindle book to be very faithful to the hard copy, and this was further boosted by the integral internet links to downloadable data. The only reason I did not give the Kindle version 5 stars, is the simple fact that a number of the charts, that were near full page size in the book, are to small to even read, in the Kindle version ( which I read with Kindle for PC http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=dig_arl_box?ie=UTF8&docId=1000493771 ), and no amount of increase to screen size, viewable area or word size could make them large enough to read.

I bought this as a gift for my Boyfriend because he is looking to get in to hyroponic gardening. He loves it! I saw it on a few websites and read some of the reviews before I chose it, but Amazon was, by far, the cheapest place to order it from!

This book claims to have 384 full color pages which sounds impressive until your realize that 3/4 of them are full page ads for hydroponic systems and nutrient suppliers and rhe techniques in this book are pretty much just the instructions that you can find on the packaging of various registered hydroponic products (jiffy blocks, Nutrilife) that the author shamelessly whores on every page of this book.

The book does have some good information but the author is usually too busy trying to get you to buy a ready made hydroponic system or to buy your "home made" hydroponic system parts from one of the hydroponic websites to really explain anything very well. And the photographs for the most part are not of the things you really need a visual image to understand..... they just seem to be random pictures taken from gardens that have nothing to do with the topic on the page you are currently reading.

All in all this is the worst hydroponic book I have ever read. You are much better off getting The Cannabis Grow Bible...... the author is alot more knowledgable and is less of a whore.
