good informative guide,

This is a good book to read before your trip & decide where to go, much too big to travel with. Well written, informative, but could use a few more photos-these are gardens after all.

Makes me ache to go there!,
By Kurt A. Johnson (North-Central Illinois, USA) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (TOP 100 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Gardens of the National Trust (Hardcover)
This large and attractive book gives the reader a tour of a number of the best gardens held by the National Trust. The National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty is a British (except Scotland, which has its own National Trust) organization that preserves especially interesting sites. Each site in this book begins with a quick list of specifics, including name, location, area, soil, altitude, average rainfall, average winter climate and staff. After that comes a very interesting written description of the site and its gardens, and one or two large and very well taken picture.Overall, I found this book to be a pretty interesting read. The sites sound lovely, and it make me ache to go there! I do wish that they could have included more pictures, but I guess that that is the trouble with covering so many sites - if you didn't limit the number of pictures the book would be huge and terribly expensive. Personally, I think it's a great book, and I am glad to have it!
