5.0 out of 5 stars Required Reading, September 28, 2007

This review is from: Gardner's Art through the Ages: A Concise History (with ArtStudy CD-ROM 2.1) (Paperback)
It's a good book with plenty of definitions and references. If you want to know about the History of Art and the Cultures that go along with it, I suggest this book.

Of course, I am a college student at an Art school and so I didn't have much of a choice as it is a required reading for one of my classes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought it for class but am keeping it for LIFE!, December 11, 2011

Kleiner makes Art History enjoyable, virtually painless, and easy to understand. He loves what he does and it shows through his engaging text, anecdotes, descriptions, and concise definitions. He gives one just enough information without it becoming a sensory overload with facts and verbatim. I would highly recommend any of his books to have in the home as reference. My teenage sons even were perusing through some of the pages, commenting, reading about the artists, and we became engaged in some nice conversations! Considering they are normal, teenage boys, complete with attitudes and video games on the brain when not doing homework, I was pleased.
