Product Description

The LintEater 10 Piece Rotary Dryer Vent Cleaning System is designed for the homeowner by a leading manufacturer of commercial duct cleaning equipment and comes with everything needed to clean and regularly maintain the entire dryer exhaust venting system with professional results.

LintEater Multiple Turns
How LintEater Works
Unlike typical manually operated vent brushes, the superior design of the LintEater Auger Brush allows both air and loosened lint to pass through the durable bristles for easy lint removal. The rotating action of the self-feeding Auger Brush and flexible rods scours the entire vent wall surface, while smoothly navigating the multiple twists and turns that are common in most exhaust vents.

LintEater System
Easy to Use
The included adapters enable you to use the air from the clothes dryer, shop vacuum or electric blower to completely remove lint from the vent while rotary cleaning at the same time. The Operator's Manual has detailed, step-by-step instructions and illustrations covering many different cleaning situations, based on decades of professional experience and techniques.

Multiple Uses
The Lint Brush will reach 42 inches when connected to one flexible rod – all the way to the bottom of your lint trap. The brush head is bendable to conform to tight spaces and works for both top and door mounted lint traps. The brush filaments are extremely durable and may be repeatedly washed to provide years of use. The exceptional reach makes it a snap to clean behind, underneath and all around your appliances. Use it to clean baseboard heating vents or connect several rods to clean ceiling fans, vertical blinds, cobwebs or any hard to reach areas around the home.

The Blockage Removal Tool can be used to dislodge and clear animal and bird nests in the exhaust vent prior to rotary brushing and also clears debris from clogged gutter downspouts – without stepping foot on a ladder.

The optional 12 Foot Extension Rod Kit adds to the LintEater Rotary Dryer Vent Cleaning System for exhaust vents longer than 12 feet. The optional LintCatcher captures loosened lint from the dryer vent while rotary brushing.

This, along with the extension kit, makes it a breeze to clean out the entire dryer vent than runs 15+ feet up through the roof.

So, this is what life comes down to when you are 50 years old: reviewing dryer vent cleaners while sitting at your kitchen table waiting for American Idol. This is not what I envisioned when I was 12, I can tell you that much. You kids who think it won't happen to you?

It will. Sorry to burst your bubble.

That said, the product works great. Our dryer pretty much stopped working and we were thinking we needed a new one, which was seriously going to eat into my plastic surgery budget. One last shot before a trip to the appliance store was this Gardus LintEater. My husband, who is not the handy one of the family, had to do the work as I have a torn labrum. (Which sounds dirtier than it is - that's part of your shoulder.) He, the clumsiest man in the world, had absolutely no problem using this. I warned him to read the directions first, and he actually listened and followed. He hooked it up to the drill, and away he went. He got a bunch of musty, wet lint that had probably been up inside the wall since 1977 - probably consisting of bell bottom material and macramé.

Now our dryer actually dries clothes again, and I can continue to save for my facelift. Thank you Gardus.

We have a 15' long vent that needed cleaning and, in short, this system worked very well! Just a couple notes: 1) follow the directions! The instructions tell you not to add the next rod until the prior rod is 2/3s of the way into the vent. It might look easier to try to connect 2 or 3 rods to your drill and then attempt to feed the whole thing into the vent, but that does not work! The rods are so flexible that the torque from the drill will start spinning them around like a jump rope! Just follow the directions and it works as the vendor promises. 2) The adapter for the vacuum is to fit a shop vac. So if you don't have one you'll have to use a regular vacuum. But it won't easily fit the adapter so you may need to use a bit of 2" wide tape to connect it to the end of the vent. Perfectly easy to do, but an extra step. 3) Finally, our package came with a short DVD that futher illusrtated how to do the job. Very nice touch.

In summary: Good system that worked as the ad said it would. Took me about 60 mins from when I started the job to having completed the job with everything cleaned up and the dryer back in working order.

I used this to clean my 22 foot vent run. While it does work, the instructions to set the drill clutch slip point could use some work. I set it as described, but still stripped out the vent brush, during the first use. The brush hub is plastic and the flexible rod that screws into it is too small, so the threads in the plastic strip easily. This would be an easily fixed design error, and I guess I'll have to fix the stripped brush on my own, I just don't think I should have to. I tried to contact Gardus to get a replacement, but got no response. So I suspect that this is a common occurrence and is too expensive for them to either correct the brush design or give replacements for failed parts. The parts in the box are useful for cleaning both the vent and the dryer. Other than the brush being easily damaged, it is a well thought out kit.
Update...a new brush showed up on my door step today. Gardus came thru with a replacement part.

I recently had purchased an new Whirlpool High Efficiency washer and dryer. The washer would wash the clothes and the dryer would dry the clothes just fine. However, at random times the dryer would alarm for some unknown reason. I had called my local dealer/installer and also stopped by his business and explained the alarm. He didn't have any idea. I really don't know if it was really an "alarm" or not since the control panel didn't show any alarm. Whenever the alarm sounded (continuously a 1-2 second beep until the dryer was turned off or the door was opened for a few seconds and then closed again) I, or my wife, would go to the dryer and check it out by opening the door and checking the lint filter and insuring that the lint filter was not covered in lint (which it wasn't - we always ensured that the lint filter was clear of any remaining lint from the previous drying cycle). Then closed the dryer door and it may or may not run a full drying cycle until the next random alarm sounded.
I was searching on the Internet and stumbled across this item and thought that this may solve my problem. It was relatively cheap ($25.45) and would not hurt to try. My house is only 6 years old, so I wasn't sure that lint trapped in the exhaust pipe could be that bad. While I was waiting on the item to arrive I decided to inspect the exhaust pipe from outside the house by shining a flash light inside. However, I could not tell for sure that any of the pipe was clogged or obstructed. My dryer exhaust pipe is made of thin wall 6" PVC which leaves the wall in the laundry room and immediately enters a 90* turn downward the approximately 1-2' then to another 90* turn, then a straight run approximately 15 feet to the outside of the house. HOWEVER, when the item arrived I proceeded to perform a cleaning.

It's a well put together kit, with all the parts you need and clear instructions. The DVD is quite helpful, and all you really need to do is to watch it. I had a buddy helping me, which is not necessary but I recommend it. Together it took us about 40 minutes, which included about 15 minutes of trying to get the @%@#*$% hose back on the dryer.

This system really does work. The amount of time it takes to dry my clothes has dropped remarkably, 10 to 15 minutes less per load. Even at 10 to 15 minutes less per load, the stuff comes out bone dry. The kit is totally reuseable, so the owner can box it back up and haul it out again in a year. A handyman would charge (in my area) $100 to $125 to clean the dryer hose, so this is a great deal.

I did find, though, that my wimpy 12 volt drill did not have enough umph to really spin the brush. My 19.2 volt drill, though, did the trick no problem. A stout corded drill would probably be up to the task as well. I also found that I did a good bit of cleaning up inside the dryer itself. Lots of lint stuck up in there. Don't neglect that part of the job.

This is a good system and I highly recommend it.
