Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Garfield has lost his Pooky bear and it's your job to help find Pooky by controlling Garfield in his search. The search for Pooky will take Garfield through his most known locales, he will meet the other characters (like Jon, Odie, Arlene, etc.), and of course encounter typical Garfield elements like spiders, food, mice, dogs, etc.

During his search Garfield will inevitably eat food and lots of it, of course. In the game, food will also represent energy. The more food Garfield eats, the more energy he has to do extraordinary moves. A level plays like a sideway-scrolling platform game, though some levels also scroll up and down to span a larger vertical area. Garfield moves from one side of the screen towards the other and must pick up food and other goodies on the way. At the same time all sorts of obstacles will have to be avoided, such as web spinning spiders, happy Odie rushing towards Garfield, bad food, annoying kids, angry pit-bulls, and more.

Features:

  • Six unique locations from Garfield's well-known universe
  • Two levels of difficulty, with most unraveling, hidden, bonus mini-games
  • 12 levels wrap you up in an enticing story each with unique game play (watch out for the hidden level)
  • Each level differs and enables the young game to play as a sideway-scrolling platform game or as the traditional up-and-down scrolling option to view a larger vertical area
  • The game retains the true graphic style of the Garfield cartoons
  • Fall over laughing at Garfield's antics with the story and dialog written with the humor that we have come to love with the Garfield cartoons
  • Attractive and intuitive user interface
  • Estimated 3 to 15 hours of game play (depending on skill and difficulty)

At the same time all sorts of obstacles will have to be avoided, such as web spinning spiders, happy Odie rushing towards Gar?eld, bad food, annoying kids, angry pit-bulls and more.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just for Kids..., March 10, 2006

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Garfield Search For Pooky (Video Game)
I'm a big fan of Garfield and Pooky, so I thought this game might be a fun way to pass the time.

Unfortunately, it's just way too easy and not a lot of fun to play. I played it for about 20 minutes and then it was up on eBay.

Basically, you play the game as Garfield- one annoying thing right from the get-go is that the intro-movie has to be manually paged through by pressing a button. I'm used to automated movies and found this to be a tad annoying.

When you finally get to the game, the first objective is to collect the mice on each level/room of the house. The levels are set up like most 2D games where it's a forward linear movement with some multi-level spots (where Garfield can jump onto platforms/shelves/etc.)

When you collect the first mouse (which is not challenging at all, since they don't run from you- you just walk right up and grab them) you have to take it back to the cage at the front or back of the house. Sounds good so far... but wait.

You then have to go find the next mouse- again, not a challenging catch- and now you have to walk ALL the way back to the cage again (which can take a few minutes depending on your position). Garfield walks pretty slow, so this process is about as boring as it gets. I understand that it wouldn't be factual to have Garfield jogging across the house, but this part of the gameplay ruined it for me.

After catching all 4 or 5 mice on the first level, you then advance to the second level (the kitchen.) Well, now you get to do it all over again. Ick. This is the point where I popped the game out of my DS.

Overall, this game might be fun for kids, but for adults expecting something a little entertaining, look elsewhere.

This is the worst Garfield game I have played. You have to collect mice because they have stolen Pooky, but the mice don't put up any fight at all. You collect one mouse, take it to the cage, get another mouse, take it to the cage. It's the same thing throughout the whole game, but they switch it up so you have to take Odie to a hole and have him dig. The game play is exactly the same though. Very annoying, very repetitive. If you want a good game for the DS, Garfield's Nightmare is good. A good game on the Game Boy Advance is Garfield and His Nine Lives. This game should be passed up because it really is HORRIBLE. Even after I read the reviews, I still purchased it from Game Stop and thankfully I bought it used and I took it back and got my money back. The negative reviews are right! Bad!

4.0 out of 5 stars pookie, January 21, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Garfield Search For Pooky (Video Game)
This game is fun to play! You are searching for pookie, the mice have stolen it! First level you have to catch all the mice in the house before john lets you out then the next level your outside in the yard with odie digging up the yard to see if the mice buried him the the yard! You do have opticals in you way to get through in the first level it's bees in the second it's butterflies cause you have to get rid of things that will distract odie from digging!!
