SOME CLASSIC GARFIELD,
This review is from: Garfield: Travel Adventures (Garfield in the Rough / Garfield in Paradise / Garfield Goes Hollywood) (DVD)
The recent release of the Big SCreen Garfield movie has had the bonus of getting released some classic old Garfield tunes of the 1980's on DVD. A couple of months back saw the release of three classic Holiday specials with "Garfields Holiday Celebrations" and now we have GArfield's Travel Adventures consisting of three prime time specials from the 1980's.
"Garfield in the Rough" - 1984, Jon plans an outdoor vacation with Garfield and Odie- and Garfield does not like the idea from the start. Things go from bad to worse when their campground is visited by an escaped panther. "Garfield Goes Hollywood" - 1987, Jon enters himself, Garfield and Odie in the Pet Search pet talent contest, and they make it to the finals. "Garfield in paradise" 1986, - Garfield, Odie and Jon take off for the tropics, at a cheap resort. They go exploring, and meet a lost tribe that worship old cars. This short was nominated for an Emmy for outstanding Animated Program. The transfers look pretty standard. There's nothing enhanced but then I didn't expect that there would be. And of course there are no extras at all. While i'm happy to see these on DVD it would be great to see a complete collection rather than just 3 episodes per DVD. But that's a small quibble.

No Stranger to Paradise,

Interspersed with his better-known holiday classics, Fim Roman created these three prime time Garfield specials, released individually on video and now all together on DVD. Garfield in the Rough was a 1984 Emmy winner, with Garfield in Paradise (1986) and Garfield Goes Hollywood (1987) both Emmy nominees. This is the third collection to make it to DVD, along with Garfield as Himself and Garfield's Holiday Celebrations, but there is still more to come, like Garfield's Babes and Bullets, and the hour long Garfield's Nine Lives. In 1994, Davis made the unheard of move of buying the worldwide rights to his character from his syndicate, which led to releasing these DVDs through his own company, PAWS. Garfield just hit his 40th book and the cat-astrophe shows no sign of letting up. So heat up the lasagna, kick back and put in this DVD.

"Garfield in the Rough" is my most favorite Garfield anything; it's by far his best TV special. The other two episodes on the DVD are also enjoyable although not as good as Garfield in the Rough. My parents taped it when it was originally on TV in the early 80's and my tape was starting to wear so much that the first minute of the show was completely inaudible. I'm so glad that the shows are being put on DVD now. If you like Garfield at all you will love this DVD! This is Garfield at his comic best.

This is a super Dvd, Again, here are the episodes and thier plot:
GARFIELD in the rough: Garfield, jon, and odie are going camping, but as soon as the ground thier on has a killer panther what will they do?!!? Garfield in paridse: Garfield, Jon, and odie are in paridise, but they soon learn a village will soon be wiped by a volcano!!!!! Garfield goes hollywood: Garfield & Odie do thier act from the fence on pet search to try to win 1000$. Will they win, and if they do win, will they win in Hollywood? Well, thats the episodes, oh and if TV tome is reading, I think I can clean up that neat, but messy, Guide of yours.

And in this installment we have:
1)Garfield In The Rough 2)Garfield In Paradise 3)Garfield Goes Hollywood the only one I have ever seen on TV is 'Garfield in the Rough', and I barely remember it. They go on a Camping Trip (of all things for Garfield to be doing!) and have some pretty big troubles! Anyway, as always, Garfield On DVD Rocks!!!

You have to get this DVD. This DVD has three stories as indicated; Garfield going to Hollywood where he loses to an opera-singing cat; Garfield in the rough where he's almost eaten by a panther, and Garfield in paradise where he is on a "bum" vacation with cheapo Jon. I actually bought these for a toddler who absolutely LOVES them and asks to watch them daily. This is a very long DVD and for a toddler to be able to sit there that long shows quite a bit for the entertainment value of this DVD. Garfield in the Rough was a 1984 Emmy winner, and Garfield in Paradise (1986) and Garfield Goes Hollywood (1987) were Emmy nominees. That said, if you're a Garfield fan, then you need this DVD. Highly recommended for all the Garfield lovers in your life! :)

Here are three more Garfield specials on DVD! Here, we get to see Garfield, Jon, and Odie go camping, visit a tropcial island, and go to Los Angeles to be a star. But what's the catch, you say? Well, the camping site is being terrorized by a black panther, the island is home to a dormant volcano, and Jon questions the Hollywood lifestyle. And THAT's when all hell storms in! There's lots of slapstick, lots of witty dialogue, and lots of singing (though THAT may not be a good thing).
These specials may not be as good as the Holiday specials (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas), but they're still entertaining to watch. Grade: A

Another adaptation of a Garfield book into a movie when there wasn't CGI around to create the movie by computers.

How happy was I to see Garfield: Travel Adventures on DVD? I have the holiday specials but I missed seeing 'Garfield in Paradise' and 'Garfield Goes Hollywood' - these are some of my favorite cartoons from when I was a kid....I'm glad I get to see them again!
