Great shades, January 5, 2011
This review is from: Gargoyles Men's The Steward Aviator Sunglasses (Apparel)
I normally order Ray-Bans, but after losing the pair that I had for the past five years, their prices had nearly doubled. So, I looked to see if something would work. I have had laser eye surgery so I am a little sensitive to bright light and glare now, so good sunglasses with polarization are a must. I am also very protective of my eyes after going through surgery, so tough lenses are also a must.
These sunglasses are great. I wish I had lost my last pair sooner. They are fairly large, so they completely cover my field of vision. The lenses aren't too dark and with the polarization make even bright sunlight in a fresh field of snow comfortable. They are very sturdily built and feel about right for weight while wearing them. They aren't feather light, but they sit comfortably and the weight is well distributed. I have also gotten a lot of compliments on them for style.
I would highly recommend these to anybody looking for a high quality cheaper alternative to Oakley, Ray-Ban, Maui Jim, or Revo. I have owned some of each and 6 pairs of Ray-Bans. These are comparable in quality to all of them for under 150 bucks. If you don't know, all of the other manufactures start well above that for a pair of polarized sunglasses. You can't stumble onto new Revos for less than 200. The company I got them from (Shoebuy) also offers a 60 day return policy at their own expense for the shipping. You really can't lose with that kind of deal.
The only issue is that unless you own one of the large pairs of Oakleys, these are not likely to fit into your current hard case and they don't come with one. They are fairly big and have a pretty serious curve, so they take a big case in all three directions. I picked a good one up for $10 bucks at an optical shop.

I bough my first pair of Gargoyle's back in 1989. I like the concept and the protection. Two things I've noticed: Coming from another product I am unused to the nose thingy's... To me they make the glasses feel cheaper than they are (and I'm not implying that these are cheap in any way). Second, I have noticed a perceptual abberation at the edge of the lenses, something I'll just get used to over time but didn't experience with my previous brand.
Overall these a great sunglasses, well made and they feel solid. I purchased them for driving and casual walking around.

No complaints and great styling, July 20, 2011

I normally start with Oakleys and shop around at similar priced models. These were a bit less or the same in most cases and the quality was right there. Style is there. Lens are Polarized and darkness is medium, but I really like SUPER dark. Thats ok. The fit and my over all like of these give it 5 stars in my book.
