5.0 out of 5 stars A great jazz album...
A jazz lover for years now, I have often listened to good or very good records which I can honestly do without, though. But this one is absolutely fantastic and should be bought by every music lover interested in jazz music played on the piano.

3.0 out of 5 stars CD review
Slow on arrival. There were only a few sides that I liked but the distributors fault. The CD was clean and as described.

5.0 out of 5 stars Here the Red Garland trio plays SO STRONG, July 30, 2011

The cohesion between Red Garland and Paul Chambers and Art Taylor is like the strength of a wood joint that is pressure clamped with Gorilla glue. These three guys will simply not come apart. Yet each is a virtuoso in his own right.
And then there's their music.
This album should be required in any collection.

I despise adjective laden reviews that attempt to describe the sound of any particular music. If such things were possible, there'd be no need for the music itself - words would be enough.
So, I'll keep this simple: This record swings so damned hard, it's almost insane. The only reason I don't rate this 10 stars is because it's not allowed. So, 5 it is - even though it deserves a 10.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, July 6, 2005

In my search for great jazz piano trios, I was fortunate to stumble upon Red Garland's work early on. And, based on the "must have it" review above, I bought this CD. While Red's playing is clean and pure, as always, this whole CD is marred by the bass solos. Why any jazz bass blayer feels the need to bring a bow to the recording session is beyond me. My fast-forward button is working overtime on this one.
