I use about 4 or 5 of these in my machine shop for setting lathe centers, sheet metal work, and general metal forming and pressing. The mallets (and their hammers), work perfectly, not marring the metal, and not leaving marks on the work surface. Far better than the cheapo rubber and urethane knockoffs that are largely imported for a dime a dozen. For the true craftsman/artisan/professional machinist, you just can't beat these.

This tool is great for setting snaps, eyelets and rivets in leather as well as striking the punch for the initial holes. Those are tasks you really shouldn't use a metal hammer for. This is also a great tool for those times I need a softer touch than a dead-blow when working metal. All-in-all a necessary and fantastic tool to have in the toolbox.

I have been very pleased with this mallet. The overall build quality is good, and it feels like a quality product. I've used it many times in the month I've had it. I would buy this mallet again.

I know it's unusual, but I love this mallet-- it's perfect for whacking plastic bags of ice-- the ice breaks up, but the bag does not rip.

I purchased this product about a year ago. A little divot is starting to wear into it where I hit the stamps. (Tooling leather). At the current rate, I'll have to turn it around and use the other side in about two years. Then maybe sand it a bit, or buy another. Maybe there are better ones. I don't know. So far, I've been happy enough with this one that I haven't felt the need to look elsewhere.

I use it to make rings and needed a heavier mallet to flatten sterling and this worked extremely well. Seemed a little light duty for the money but has worked out to last a long time.

When I was wee lass my daddy owned an upholstery shop. He refurbished antiques as-well-as doing regular work on chairs, sofas amd such. I always got to do the "tear down" work which meant to remove the outer coverings starting with the piece being upside down and remocing the tacks ans strips. I would usually get as far as the area where the "pockets" in the sides and back seemed to collect the money people lost. If I was really lucky I might end up eith a dollar. Back in 1954 that was a lot of money for an 8 ytear old.
Now fast forward and my wood shop needed a mallet and I so remembered that leather mallet I used so many years ago. I went online and discovered this brand. The same as my dad had! There were cheaper brands from off shore companies but I would not consider them. THe original is always better. It feels right in my hands.
Thanks guys!

I have been using these for 40 years. Best for setting snaps, rivets and carving or stamping leather. I am not sure of the physics but when stamping leather a steel hammer will not carry the force of the blow through the tool and into the leather. This is the mallet to use and the bigger the better.
