I have seen reviews for a similar product that say it is cheaper and just as good to buy the parts locally and build one yourself. That is probably true. I am reviewing what I bought and tried.

This steaming board is well made and we were delighted with the steaming results we obtained with the board when compared with not using the board. The board makes the finished result much nicer than simply steaming without a solid backing. If you have a steamer, get a board.

Example: We purchased two pair of ladies' permanent press slacks. They came home from the store with plenty of wrinkles. Those wrinkles might have been reduced by washing and drying. We've used that method before. We were much more pleased with the result of steaming with this board. We got a very good crease and no wrinkles. After washing, they still look great.

My only "complaint" is that the surface area is a bit small. We considered the size carefully before purchasing. I think that's the hardest part of the decision to purchase this board. We are satisfied with what we bought, and the size of the board is not a "defect." It is a feature; and for our purposes, the fairly compact size was a plus.

The quality is there. It is up to you to decide if the size is right for your needs. I would ask how much vertical leeway does the steamer itself allow? If the board actually were a foot longer, would you stoop down to steam in a somewhat awkward (and maybe unsafe) position? Or, would you move the material up to a more posture-friendly position?

A steam board makes your clothing steaming job go faster and with a better end result. This board is a bit pricey but heavy and well made.

This item is a must for use with a Jiffy steamer. The only problems are that is extremely heavy and that I should have purchased one that had a stand with it. But, for the price difference, I ordered this one. My husband made a stand for it using PVC (materials only about $20). Using the steamer and steamboard makes ironing seem obsolete (unless you want the clothing starched).
