5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for clipping your GPS to you and forgetting about it.
I love this item. I attach my GPS to this when I take it out of my truck and clip it to my backpack's sternum strap or my belt. Then I can hike and basically forget about the GPS, but I know it will be safely attached to me.

1.0 out of 5 stars did not work for 60cxs as stated
I put in that I was looking for accessories for the older 60cxs and got this and the belt clip. neither use the screw on the back, seems to slide into something.. was able to use part of the belt clip to replace the broken one that came with the unit

5.0 out of 5 stars Garmin carabiner clip, May 11, 2011

I had serious doubts about paying $15 for this thing. Having received it and used it, I can say it is invaluable on long hikes and/or climbs. The shame is on Garmin for not including this thing as a standard feature. They are already sticking you for hundreds of dollars for purchasing a GPS unit, then several more dollars if you want maps on your new GPS unit. They shouldn't nickle and dime the customer to get the equipment to have attachments that should be included in the box when the product is purchased.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, June 24, 2010

I used to have the clip version, and I loved it because it tightly secured my GPS unit to the shoulder strap of my backpack. One of the features it lacked was a carabiner that could be hooked up horizontally to vertical a strap, so that the clip could then be attached vertically to the carabiner. Therefore, it always took time to figure out how to secure the unit on a new backpack. Recently however, I was careless and broke the clip.

I then decided to replace the broken clip with the one that already comes with the carabiner thinking it would take care of the previous issue, and it did, but unfortunately the webbing strap that attaches the carabiner to the back of the GPS unit is too long, and so when hiking, the unit dangles all over the place.

I now have to spend time folding the webbing onto itself so as to shorten its length, and fix the GPS unit into position. I wish the features of the two clips were combined for superb convenience and performance.

Oveerall it's a great and sturdy product, though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but overpriced, February 11, 2010

Pros:
-Solid attachment to a stud that screws into back of GPS
-Same mounting stud is used in bicycle mount, making it easy to switch back and forth
-Carabiner is smooth and sturdy
-Easily pivots and twists to view screen

Cons:
-Price

Works very well; provides a secure attachment that I've come to trust. Unlike other methods I've employed, I don't feel that the need to constantly check and make sure it hasn't fallen off. Used regularly for hiking (geocaching) and sailing. I think the same results could be achieved for about 30% less.

Excellent product. I really had no place to attach my gps to my backpack. With this clip, I can attach it to my belt loop and I am good to go. The product is easy to use and built to last. A must for handheld GPS users.

5.0 out of 5 stars You need this if you have a 60 series GPS, April 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Garmin Carabiner Button Clip (Electronics)
I bought the 60Cx GPS and the neoprene cover for it at the same time and wrongly "assumed" that the cover for the 60 series was like the cover for my old Garmin eTrex. In that the cover for the eTrex had it's own clip attachment for hooking it on to your backpack. Once my order arrived I was saddened to find that there was no way to clip my GPS on to my backpack straps with out this Carabiner device.

So.... I had to order this piece separately to be able to clip my GPS on to my backpack straps rather than carrying it in my pocket or something equally cumbersome. The Carabiner works well and is exactly what you need in order to be able to attach your GPS to something.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed, March 25, 2009

Works great! I use it to clip to the front of my pack on the shoulder straps. The GPS swings around a little but is easily accessible - I have it located so I can leave it clipped and I just lift my arm up some to grab it then twist it around to view. After I'm done, I just let it drop back down; the weight distribution and post location on the unit causes it to hang in the correct orientation and doesn't really spin around like I've seen phones do on similar belt mounts (one of the reasons I was shy to buy this at first). The unit also quickly disconnects for the times that I want it handheld while leaving the clip attached to my pack - very convenient.

I had a little sticker shock but the value is there - this is a quality item. Though do be careful to tighten the post that attaches to the GPS as I had it unscrew once on a hike and almost lost the unit - that was my fault though for not tightening it better. There is an indent in the end of the post for an Allen wrench to get it very tight if you want but I usually just hand tighten so I can switch it out for my bike mount.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Garmin Accessory, January 20, 2008
This review is from: Garmin Carabiner Button Clip (Electronics)
Great accessory for Garmin GPSmap 60x units...great price. Easily insert or detach unit into clip that screws into the back of Garmin unit while hiking or walking, hangs from ring or attachment of shoulder strap on knapsack or other attachment point via spring-loaded clip. Well worth the $12 price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the intended job, December 31, 2011

The way this works is, you screw a knob tightly into the socket of the Garmin. Then he screw-in knob makes it easy to attach and detach the carabiner and webbing to the knob. So you leave the knob on all the time and attach the carabiner unit when you need. I think this will work well for me in the field, attaching the unit to my pack's waist belt or a belt loop. When kayaking, I'll clip it to my life vest.

My only wish is that they didn't use cord to attach the web sling to the button/quick-release connector. I'd prefer something a bit stiffer so the unit bounces a bit less.
