5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and effective
I was worried how this would work in the car. But it works perfectly. And you don't even have to stick anything permanent on the dash, or wherever.

The main holder uses a strong suction cup for attaching directly to the window glass if you want. This is what I do, so it's easy to move between cars without having to buy 2 of them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Caution, Not for the Oregon
I just got a Garmin Oregon GPS and looked for a auto kit for it. Somehow I came up with this one as the one to get. Well, the adapter-end that goes into the unit is facing the wrong direction. It is bent at a 90 degree angle and must be plugged in from under the front of the unit. The problem is that with the 90 degree angle, and the case, there is only about 1/8...

The Colorado slips right on (I don't even push it hard enough to 'click') and is a snap to just grab-n-go. I usually don't even bother with the power-adapter since I use rechargeable batteries in the Colorado.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take Your Cool New Colorado in Your Vehicle, March 31, 2008

This kit works really well.

You can mount your Colorado using the suction cup mount on your vehicle windshield or using the adhesive disk. ( the disk is good for states that do not allow windshield mounts )

The mount is sturdy and my Colorado fits in it easily and holds in well.

It is great to be able to conveniently and safely use my unit in the car while driving.

The Colorado is a great companion in the car and the screen looks gorgeous and bright. When running the Colorado on the lighter adapter the backlight on the screen runs in a much brighter mode than batteries permit and the screen is very bright and the map shading and detail are beautiful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Garmin Auto Nav Kit works very well, September 30, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Garmin 010-10851-00 Colorado Series Auto Navigation Kit (Electronics)
This kit includes a mounting bracket with a built in suction cup (for mounting to the windshield) and an adhesive disk (for mounting to the dashboard) and a vehicle power cable. The mounting bracket will work with either the Garmin Colorado or the Garmin Oregon (I have the Oregon).

I've used the kit several times in two different vehicles using the suction cup to mount the GPSr to the windshield - it works extremely well. The suction cup holds well, even on bumpy roads. It's easy to quickly attach the GPSr to the mount or remove it from the mount (a great improvement over the mount for the Garmin 60CSx, which I've also used). The articulated arm of the mount, with a ball and socket arrangement, allow easy adjustment of the mount in all three axis, making it easy to adjust to windshields with different degrees of slope and easy to tilt the GPSr screen to the right angle for viewing.

The only criticism I have is that the right angle power cable is difficult to attach once the GPSr is in the mount, mainly because you cannot see the attachment point on the bottom of the GPSr (the port is recessed and the front of the case obscures your view). However, it's easy to plug in the power cable and then mount the GPSr, so this isn't a major drawback.

When I first started using the unit with the vehicle power cable, the GPSr kept going into Mass Storage Mode, which makes no sense as the way to respond to attaching a vehicle power cable (you'd think the GPSr could identify the power cable as NOT being a USB cable). However, that problem was easily solved by setting the GPSr Interface to "Garmin Spanner", which causes the GPSr to prompt re: mass storage mode when connected to power (which allows you to say no).

I highly recommend this kit - the relatively small drawbacks are more than made up for by the convenience (and safety) of having your GPSr mounted out of your driving line of sight, but where you can easily see the screen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have Garmin Colorado Accessory, May 29, 2008

This review is from: Garmin 010-10851-00 Colorado Series Auto Navigation Kit (Electronics)
Just received the Garmin Colorado Auto Nav Kit today and it is better than I hoped for.

Very simple mount to windshield or the dashboard if required or preferred.
It is extremely secure, unlike some adjustable,multi-purpose mounts.

When using rechargeable batteries and plugged into power adapter, the screen is very bright and legible. I would say brighter than most Auto GPS devices I have seen.

Very,Very Pleased.

I just got a Garmin Oregon GPS and looked for a auto kit for it. Somehow I came up with this one as the one to get. Well, the adapter-end that goes into the unit is facing the wrong direction. It is bent at a 90 degree angle and must be plugged in from under the front of the unit. The problem is that with the 90 degree angle, and the case, there is only about 1/8 inch that is available to actually go into the USB connection. The result? The power cord does not hold a connection and the unit goes into and out of power mode... I ended up filing down part of the connector (where it meets the case) and used a velcro strap to hold the connector in place. Not what I thought I was getting into...

I got this for my Garmin Oregon 400t GPS due to recommendations on the purchase sit for the Oregon. Said it fit both the Colorado and Oregon series. The mounting clip DOES fit the Oregon, but the charging cable connection to the Oregon is obstructed by the the bend direction of the the connection (bends 180 degrees in the wrong direction to fit properly!). My understanding is that there is a cable that is specifically made for the Oregon (and I would guess that THAT cable would not fit the Colorado!). The mounting system itself works as advertised however, and I will be using that for road trips. I ordered a new Oregon specific cable to replace that part of the vehicle mounting system.

Great windscreen mount, power cable does not fit Oregon :-(, puts unit into PC mode.

Although recommended by Amazon, only the windscreen mount is compatible with Oregon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mount and disk work for Oregon, power cable doesn't, July 15, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Garmin 010-10851-00 Colorado Series Auto Navigation Kit (Electronics)
Like others have said, the power cable doesn't fit properly on the Garmin Oregon. I had to buy a separate, aftermarket power adapter through an auction site. The aftermarket adapter plugs straight in and works perfectly, unlike the one in this kit. I have the mount attached to my dash using the adhesive disk, and I haven't had any problems, even after driving down some very bumpy roads.

This product works great, however the sticky pad under it does not stick real great. Clean surface good, with a non-patrolium product, not armorall probably soap and water. I used industrial strength velcro instead, works great!
