Product Description

This nüvi comes with an additional weighted, anti-skid dash mount --perfect for those drivers in California or Minnesota that cannot use the windshield mount or for those multi-car drivers. Garmin's nüvi 700 series brings two exciting new features -- multi-destination routing and, "Where am I?/Where's my car?" -- to its popular pocket-sized GPS navigator lineup. As with all nüvis, you get Garmin reliability, the fast satellite lock of an integrated high-sensitivity receiver, a slim, pocket-sized design with a gorgeous display, an easy, intuitive interface, and detailed NAVTEQ maps for the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico with more than 6 million name-searchable points of interest. All of the 700-series navigators also feature a rich array of features including spoken directions in real street names, MP3 player and photo viewer, and an FM transmitter that will play voice prompts, MP3s, audio books, and more, directly through your vehicle's stereo system. Garmin's nüvis pack top of the line features into a slim form factor. Wider screen lets you see more of what's around. Compare these actual size views of a 3-inch (diagonal) screen. New Features -- Where Am I? Where's My Car? The nüvi 700 series is the first to answer two common questions: "Where am I?" and "Where's my car?" At any time, with a single tap of the screen, drivers can display their exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations. And to help drivers find their car in an unfamiliar spot or vast parking lot, all nüvi 700s automatically mark the position in which they were last removed from the mount.

I love this GPS, it's easy to use and the larger screen is a plus. I love this GPS and I will be using it for a long time. I have not had any problems with mine other then the battery only lasting 15 minutes, (it's refurbished) but I leave it plugged into the charger all the time so it's not really a problem. I had a Garmin before this one and loved it, it lasted for five years before it needed to be retired. It's a great deal for the money.

A word of warning- If yours comes with a crappy USB-B Charger (off brand) Do yourself a favor and go to best buy and buy a real Garmin charger. The USB-B Charger will only charge it with the GPS off, so you can't use it when it's charging, unless you override it EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU TURN IT ON. It's not easy to do, it's a huge pain.
Once I figured out that my charger was a piece of crap (in my rental car, in Florida, with no idea how to get to my hotel) I figured out how to override it myself, got to my hotel, map quested best buy, and got a real charger. It was smooth sailing after that.

I don't buy GPS systems that often. In my life I have used 3. This was the second one I used and I was VERY pleased with it. The points of interest database was MASSIVE and it always took me exactly where I wanted to go. If I had any issue at all with this GPS it would be it's slow boot time. It took a while between the time I switched the system on and the time that I was able to use it. This got worst with newer map updates. However, I am still giving this GPS 5 stars for its great POI database, its excellent navigation ability and its great speaker.

With a Feature none of today's Garmin has.

An RF Transmitter. It allowed me to use it on my Motorcycle
with the turn-by-turn coming through the RADIO.

So, I got this GPS a couple of years ago and decided to upgrade it. Ok, I didn't get another Garmin but, being the sentimental person I am, I am sad that I wanted to buy a new gps. This GPS is very basic with a SD slot. It got me to places I need to go and it's been with me through thick and thin. The only problem I have with this GPS is it's start up. I've learned that your car needs to be out of your garage before turning it on for it to find the signals quickly. Other than that, I love this GPS! Def will be my backup. If you want an affordable and great GPS, get this one. Doesn't seem like it's too expensive either.

It's an older product, which does not have all the features and warning messages newer models do, but it's still a great help for orientation. The only complaint that I would have is that sometimes the voice tells you to turn left/right, before you actually have to. However, the map will show you the correct path, so if you glance at it from time to time, you will be fine.

I got a used 750 to replace a 350 which had been given to me. I bought it for two reasons: the larger display compared to the 350, and the fact that sticking it into the cradle connects up the power automagically, and the unit will start up as soon as the lighter plug has power. Only the most expensive current models by Garmin do that, for all the rest you have to manually plug in a power cable each time you use the device. I've been extremely happy with it.

Pro: Easy to operate. Can set keyboard to Qwerty layout. Display very visible in normal lighting conditions. Battery is easily replaceable. Socket for remote active antenna (MCX female connector). Decent volume from built-in speaker. Phone jack (1/8"/3.5 mm) for external speaker. RF output to talk through car FM radio for better sound quality. Knows the speed limit for most roads and displays it on map page. SD card slot. Can charge battery through USB as well as proprietary connector. Stores accurate (that is, not forced to the nearest street) location at the instant you remove it from the cradle so you can use it to locate a parked car if you want to. Receiver is quite sensitive, can often retain satellite lock indoors. Routing is generally reasonable. Has North-up, Track-up, and pseudo-3D map displays (but takes several steps to shift from one to another: Home--> Tools --> Settings--> Map, checkbox for view-->OK, then hold down BACK for a couple seconds to get back to home screen). If you're not navigating to a destination it displays most upcoming cross streets on map view. You can store routes with multiple destinations, and you can add intermediate destinations while you're navigating to a location.

Purchased this GPS about six years ago and it must have been a dud because on MANY occasions this took us to the wrong location or miles out of our way. Some notable highlights of inaccuracy were when we were visiting Pennsylvania and this attempted to take us through an "unpaved wooded area" and when this units directions figured in an extra 45 minutes of driving in The Bronx for a destination that was only 4 minutes away according to a simultaneously running iPhone GPS. This unit was traded in due to those and many other fails. I am pretty tech saavy and neither updates nor alternate configurations solved this issue.
This unit was used periodically in one of our cars; despite its good features a GPS that does not get you where you (or more importantly, my wife and kids when I'm not with them) where you need to go is useless.
I have used numerous GPS units before (including other Garmins) and this is the only model we had a problem with. Having to purchase maps to attempt to rectify the problem was the last straw which led to this models return.
