nüvi 2450 includes nüRoute technology with trafficTrends historical traffic and myTrends predictive routing. With trafficTrends, your nüvi 2450 automatically learns daytime trends for traffic flow to improve your routes and better predict your estimated time of arrival based on time of day and day of week. With myTrends, when you save your regular destinations in your "Favorites," your nüvi 2450 will, over time, begin to figure out where you're going even without your telling it! So whether you're driving to and from work or a regularly scheduled weekly event, your nüvi 2450 will help you get there on time. No subscription or additional cost required.

Know the Lane Before It's Too Late
No more guessing which lane you need to be in to make an upcoming turn. Lane assist with junction view guides you to the correct lane for an approaching turn or exit, making unfamiliar intersections and exits easy to navigate. It realistically displays road signs and junctions on your route along with arrows that indicate the proper lane for navigation.

Having had an older Garman for a number of years, my biggest complaint was that I couldn't read the street names on the screen. With the larger screen I can read the street names easily, and my Garmen speaking them makes it much easier to navigat in unknown areas.

My old Garmin went out after being subjected to summer temperatures of over 100 degrees daily for months! I wanted something better but after researching the new Garmins didn't like all the negatives about traffic, on screen ads and larger cords. This is a great model, newer features but no traffic or ads, no larger cord but 5 inch screen is much easier to read! Love this model!!

Bought this as a gift for my parents who had been through many GPS units and unhappy with. I bought this one because it had a large screen, was slim and had no advertisements. (be careful, the other model of this one with "free maps" puts ads on the unit that pop up) I was worried it would be returned because they have not found one they liked yet. They love it. And despite being big, they take it with them walking around because being so slim it fits in most shirt/coat pockets fine. Said battery life is great too. They are happy with the GPS quality, screen navigation and prompts.

I have owned this Garmin for 2 years and am happy I bought it. I use it in my car when I go travelling on long trips and also for day to day use locally when I'm going somewhere new. I have also used it for walking directions as a pedestrian. I find it much more useful than two previous 'TomTom's I owned. I use it with the volume turned off as I find voice instructions on any GPS annoying and intrusive.

What I like about it:
* Good screen size and relatively thin.
* Depending on how you set it up, you can get alot of on-screen information and there is still enough 'navigation' space.
* Marks the route you have taken and where you're going in different colours.
* Easy to switch between plan view and navigation during a trip.
* 3-D views of tricky junctions.

What is frustrating:
* Takes along time to start-up/maps to load.
* The estimated time to arrival is terrible. It seems to assume you will be able to travel as fast as the speed limit at all times. It doesn't even allow for normal stops at e.g. traffic lights. For a journey round town in light traffic, I mentally add 30% extra onto its estimates. For long trips on freeways it's not so bad, but still add on 20-30mins extra for a 150mile trip.
* I have it set up to identify the quickest route. Sometimes it chooses bizzare routes e.g. an unnecesary 'round the block', down farm tracks or cutting a corner by detouring off a perfectly good fast road onto a residential road with a 30mph speed limit and speed bumps! So I always quickly review the mapped route first - if I don't agree with it, I take my own route and let the Garmin adjust and catch up automatically!
* When using the search function to find e.g. gas stations, ATMs, grocery stores in the area, it always seems to look 'behind' your direction of travel, rather than in 'in front'.

Shows the shortest route, even if it takes you off main roads need to watch what it saids. Overall very good, like the time to arrival, screen is clean and that it shows how fast your going vs the speed limit
