The Garmin StreetPilot GPS has built-in batteries, and ships with an automobile 12/24 volt adapter. If you want to avoid having wires draped over your dashboard, purchase this convenient accessory and charge your unit inside. This is particularly handy if you share the GPS between cars, and use it in rental cars while travelling.

I tried twice to get a AC charger for my C550 auto unit. It was a NO GO. What you receive is not what you need, and fits the C series for the 300 and Zumo 500 series (motorcycle). It's a glich in product numbers. Soooooo, if you want a AC charger for your Auto/unit (C550) you should order from Garmin. Believe me, I'm saving you some hassle, and time. And, to Amazon, it's a small matter you should correct. Thanks...

This charger has a round connector. My StreetPilot c550 has a flat connector, so this item was incompatible with my c550.

The charger makes recharging your streetpilot easy. Just remember to turn the streetpilot off before recharging.

Product works as advertised. Had I known that the charger is identical to those that are used to charge a number of cellphones, which I happen to have, I would not have purchased it.

I ordered this (Item model#010-10618-00 AC Adapter Cable) before I saw the negative reviews. When it came, and before I opened it I called Garmin. Even though the C530 is not listed, (and yes it DOES say "this accessory is not supported" when you plug it in), here's what Garmin told me.

"When you plug it in and get the message, turn the unit off with the power button on the side. As long as it say "charging" on the screen, it's working." I've charged my unit several times, it works fine.

For the price (currently a little over $14), it's a GREAT buy. Charge in the house, and you don't have to keep it plugged in while using it in the car. Don't be afraid to order this for the Street Pilot C530.

I was about to purchase this and read the comment about someone using their phone charger so I tried my phone charger and it worked perfect. I have a Motorola Slvr and it works just fine. I'm glad I didn't waste my money.

I purchased this item with hesitation because of the reviews I had read about the square adapter vs round hole on the GPS. People! Turn the GPS around and look for the OTHER connection port. There are TWO on this GPS. Hope this helps.

I recently purchased this A/C charger for my C340, and noticed the square male contact on the charger. I figured Garmin was to smart to offer a wrong accessory, so I called their help phone. Used my patience being on hold, but after 22 minutes, got a voice, a nice tech guru answered my query, on the side of the unit above the on/off switch was the square female charging connector! Red faced, I thanked him for his assistance! I like being able to charge my C340 in the house circuit rather than using the cig.lighter, as I use the dash mount and removing the unit and securing it out of sight is a breeze as I don't have to fool with cords...

Bought my Garmin C340 and love it, but having the cigarette charger cord hanging in the car was a pain and it takes awhile to charge the unit. Now that I have purchased the AC charger, I just bring the Garmin in nightly, charge it and its ready to go for the next day. I get a good 6-7 hours of use on one charge and the AC adapter charges the unit much quicker as well. I would highly recommend this product to anyone with a portable GPS system.
