Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Garmin Fishfinder Blue Series is designed for offshore fishing enthusiasts. The Fishfinder 100 Blue operates at dual frequencies. With the 50/200 kHz transducer, you can reach greater depths and get a wider viewing area. And you will see those returns on a crisp, four-level grayscale screen for excellent separation and contrast. This seaworthy fishfinder is rugged and waterproof. But despite its tough exterior, it's extremely easy to operate, with features like a convenient adjustment bar that gives you access to the most commonly used fishing settings.

The Fishfinder 100 Blue boasts increased power and dual frequency of 50/200 kHz, which makes it ideal for the saltwater environment. Improved screen contrast and increased image update rate also set it apart from its freshwater counterpart.

From the outside, the Fishfinder 100 Blue will resemble its freshwater version, with the size of the waterproof case and the keypad configuration remaining the same. The real changes can be found on the inside with increased power and upgraded displays. The Fishfinder 100 Blue has 2,400 watts power, peak-to-peak (300 RMS), 160 x 100 pixels, and includes temperature. It also includes a deep water and shallow water alarm, as well as alarms for three sizes of fish. Its display options include auto ranging and 2X and 4X auto and manual zoom.

The Fishfinder 100 Blue comes in a fully gasketed, high-impact plastic alloy case rated to be waterproof submerged for 30 minutes at a depth of 3.3 feet. This product comes with a mounting kit, wiring adapter cable, and a one-year warranty.

4.0 out of 5 stars best low end unit, June 12, 2002

This review is from: Garmin Fishfinder 100 Blue 3.9-Inch Waterproof Fishfinder (Electronics)
The Garmin fishfinders model 100blue and 160blue are basically the same unit. The only difference is screen size. These are the best low end fishfinders available today for the salt water fisherman or diver. The gray scale and adjustable contrast show up as well as any LCD unit under sunlight. The screen/pixel resolution could be better but it's a price difference. If you want ultimate resolution go with the model 240. The real plus of this unit is its durability, ease of operation and the power of the dual frequency 300 watt transducer. Like most Garmin marine products their fishfinders are built to last, water intrusion and breakage won't be a problem under normal usage. Operation is also very intuitive, if you read what the zoom, gain and frequency mean then you will know how to use the unit. A readable manual is also provided. The unit performs well, the transducer signal is able to penetrate somewhat in to the bottom. This will give you an idea of bottom composition and structure, all important to offshore fishermen.

In all, if you are looking to get a saltwater sounder and price is a concern than one of these two units is for you. If you can go a hundred or so dollars more you should consider the model 240.
