PERFECT FOR DEPLOYED SOLDIERS,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Garmin Foretrex 101 Waterproof Cycling GPS (Electronics)
To get right to the point, this is a great product, and really should be issued to every single line doggy deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq! On the MGRS setting, the 8 digit grids are spot on with older Army issued GPS units like the "Dagger" and "Plugger," just a lot faster and 10 times smaller. I don't think there was a single day that I didnt use it on my last tour to Iraq. (Marking and identifying IED sites, places of interest, weapons caches, and all the other crap that comes with Counter-Insurgancy work). To steal words from Geico, "it's so easy, even a soldier can use it." Seriously, it's very easy to use. Two AAA batteries last about 12 hours when continuously on. The wrist strap is junk, so don't think it's going to stay on your arm the whole time you are bouncing around. Several of us had this GPS, and the wrist straps all broke. Now that you are done reading this review, go buy this thing and send it to your loved one over there. Okay...go!
