Keep Your Eyes Ahead

Get turn-by-turn directions to your destination for easy viewing while driving. Our Head-Up Display (HUD) receives navigation information from your smartphone² and projects it onto a transparent film on your windshield or an attached reflector lens. HUD automatically adjusts its brightness level, so its projections are clearly visible in direct sunlight or at night.

It has more navigation detail than other portable display systems, showing turn indicators, distance to the next turn, current speed and speed limit, and estimated time of arrival. HUD lets you know what lane to be in for your next maneuver, and alerts you if you exceed the speed limit. It also warns you of potential traffic delays and upcoming safety camera locations.

Easy Setup

HUD is easy to use. Just apply the transparent film on your windshield (or attach the included reflector lens). Then place HUD onto your vehicle’s dashboard and pair it wirelessly with your compatible Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. Using Garmin StreetPilot for iPhone, or NAVIGON for iPhone/Android/Windows Phone 8 (purchase may be required), choose your destination and HUD will project turn-by-turn directions to get you there. An integrated USB port on the vehicle power/adapter cable makes it easy to charge your phone while you’re on the go.

What's in the Box:

  • Vehicle power/adapter cable

  • Windshield film

I will deal with complaints I have heard first which did not help deciding weather to buy this or not.

Also, the HUD information will go away when you switch from the Navigon app to any other app or turn off the phone's screen, even if the app is still running.

If you're just driving freestyle and don't have an active route in the GPS app, then it shows your compass direction (North, East, South, West) and speed.

I used this with and iPhone 5s running Garmin USA app.

I read a lot of reviews before buying this and i was disappointed in how many reviewers don't know what they are saying.

I will deal with complaints I have heard first which did not help deciding weather to buy this or not.
-There is not enough information displayed: Well it's designed to not be distracting so the info displayed is minimal.
-It has no battery: Why would it have a battery. It's designed to stay in your car during hot summers and cold winters, do you know how long the battery would last in the dash of your car in the summer heat in the sun?
-The cord plug is on the wrong side: No. It's where it should be unless you want the cord hanging in the middle of your center dash. If you mount it close to the middle of the car, then the cord will hand down between the steering wheel and the center console. If you put this in front of the driver, then the cord can come down on the left side of the steering wheel and under it so it's not in the way.
-You have to pair it to the phone every time: NO. your phone remembers and when you turn the car on, it takes like 10 seconds to pair by itself, you don't have to do anything.
-One prominent website review said it took time to show you directions, they were dismayed that the car was parked facing west and the display showed east. Well the way navigation devices work is that they compare your current position to your last position, so if you don't move, it can't possibly know which direction you are facing.
-It's misleading: No it's not, it clearly says it a display only, you need to buy navigation software for your phone.

The price for this could be a little lower considering that you have to buy an app for fifty bucks to use it if you don't already use one of the 2 supported Garmin apps. That said, this is definitely a safer way to navigate around as opposed to traditional GPS units or phones. Mine sits right about eye level with the top of my steering wheel so I barely have to look down to check distance or a turn.

I ended up using the plastic snap-on reflector because I couldn't get the images to project low enough on my windshield and use the film. I blame that on the curve and slope of the dashboard in my Mazda though. I'm using the Navigon app with an iPhone and everything connected without any problems.

Overall, it works pretty well and makes navigation seem safer. Plus it looks cool. 4 stars though for the expensive app purchase and for needing external power.

It's always interesting to me to read others reviews after I have purchased a product. Of course, I do this in depth before I purchase a product, but I'm always amused, especially by negative reviews, after I have used a product for a while. I'm a "gadget junky" and love having cool new things (or at least things that seem like they'd be cool).

First, this product does EXACTLY what it says it will and does it exceptionally well. Does it display enormous amounts of information? No. And thank God for that. The whole idea of an HUD is to provide information with a minimum amount of distraction. This device gives you just what you need. Nothing more, nothing less. If I wanted a bunch more information in front of me on my dash, I would just put my iPhone up there and be done with it.

I use the the reflective shield that attaches to the unit and it works great. I love that the unit itself (separate from the base) tilts in so many different directions, allowing me to get the perfect viewing angle. The auto-brightness feature is great, but I prefer to manually adjust the unit brightness from within the Navigon app.

Setting the unit up with my iPhone and the Navigon app took almost no effort. One of the best pairing experiences I've had. I know there isn't anything made that will be perfect for everyone, but some complaints in these reviews are ridiculous. Take price, for example. You think they are overcharging for a device of this quality because it doesn't do a couple of things you think it should? Then don't buy it. I think the price is very fair, especially if you already own one of the two required apps. I have been using Navigon on my iPhone for over 2 years now and find it far preferable to the many stand-alone GPS units I've owned over the years.

I generally echo the other comments in the reviews so far. It's quite easy to see, especially with the plastic reflective panel in place. There is a bug in the Navigon software interface to the HUD in that it displays your speed in KPH whenever it doesn't know the posted limit on the street you're driving. When it does know the limit it properly displays MPH (I live in the US).

I do wish the display was user configurable to show different data based on preferences. The arrows are a bit simple and it would be great to see the street name for the upcoming turn. The characters used for your speed are also a bit small. I feel that not much effort was put into user interface design for the display.

Also, the HUD information will go away when you switch from the Navigon app to any other app or turn off the phone's screen, even if the app is still running. I see this as a problem that should be fixed. ***UPDATE - It appears this has been fixed - you can switch away from Navigon and the HUD will still display upcoming directions!

The power cord is plenty long enough and does offer a USB port in the plug. The HUD feels very well made and sturdy.
