Battery replacement for Garmin 276c,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Garmin Lithium-Ion Battery for GPSMap 276c (010-10517-00) (Accessory)
This battery was bought to replace my original battery, despite having purchased the Model 010-10517-00, 010-10517-02 model was delivered, which has a capacity less than that requested. Apparently it worked normally, I will try, but I'm with her for only two days. Let's see how it will behave.

This battery made my old Garmin unit a viable GPS unit again. The original battery would not hold a charge but about four hours, even though it had only been used a total of about twelve hours. This was a good price and swift delivery.

My BMW R1200GS Adventure has a Garmin 276C in a Touratech lockable, shock-resistant mount. I've used this system since 2005 (starting on a R1150GS). I have the GPS wired to my bike, so it turns on with the ignition. Lately it has occasionally turned on to a dim screen. The only way I could get it to turn on, or even turn off, was to remove the GPS from the mount, and remove, then reinstall the battery. I tried cleaning up and burnishing the contacts, fine crocus cloth, 3M dielctric goo on reassembly; every trick in the book. Finally I called Garmin, and found that I am on my own. Three choices: ignore the problem, send the unit back to Garmin for a $160 "reconditioning," or buy a new battery. I fired up Amazon, and had my new battery ordered within five minutes. It arrived from GPS City in about three days! It was in a Garmin box, and was even fully charged! Best of all, the GPS has turned on fully each time I have started the bike since installation of the new battery! I've only had the new battery in there for a week, so maybe it's too soon to tell, but I think my problem may be solved (uh-oh, words have power... hope this isn't the kiss of death). Seeya ATB
