Dedicated, Easy-to-use GPS Guidance

For driving directions on the road, put away the smartphone and power on your nüvi. nüvi 65LM is an easy-to-use, dedicated GPS navigator that does not rely on cellular signals and is unaffected by cellular dead zones. nüvi provides easy-to-follow, spoken turn-by-turn directions with street names.

nüvi 65LM features a bright, 6.0” dual-orientation display, for use horizontally or vertically.

Detailed Maps

nüvi 65LM arrives pre-loaded with detailed maps of the lower 49 states.

Free Lifetime Map Updates

Roads change. Businesses open and close. nüvi 65LM enables you to keep your device up-to-date with the latest maps¹ that Garmin has to offer, with no fees. Map updates also contain fresher points of interest, so your nüvi can give results that are more relevant and have greater accuracy. With increased road detail and more points of interest, new maps could be larger in size; as a result, map updates may require a microSD™ card (sold separately).

Navigate Complex Interchanges with Ease

nüvi 65LM has lane assist with junction view that displays upcoming junctions and uses brightly colored arrows to indicate your proper lane.

Easier to Search, Quicker to Find

nüvi 65LM has a search field that makes it easy to find addresses and millions of points of interest, in a single place. Now, simply enter a category (like “pizza”), an entire address (“1234 Sycamore Lane, Anytown, USA”) or a proper name (“Starbucks”) and nüvi 65LM quickly returns your results.

More Information Right on Your Map

No need to search for a hard-to-read or nonexistent sign; with a glance at nüvi 65LM, you’ll see your current street. nüvi also displays speed limit, current speed and estimated arrival time.

With the Up Ahead feature, you can easily find places you want – like restaurants, gas stations, ATMs and shops – without leaving the map. Best of all, Up Ahead is customizable, so you can always know the location of favorite destinations along your route.

You can access Up Ahead and other useful information from the map tools panel. Conveniently remain on your map screen and still find places Up Ahead, change the volume and more.

School Zone Warnings

nüvi 65LM issues an audible alert and displays an onscreen warning whenever you approach a school zone.

One-stop Device Management

Use Garmin Express to keep your nüvi up-to-date. Garmin Express makes it easy to update maps and software, transfer favorites to and from devices, and install free custom vehicles and voices.

I ordered the nuvi 65 to replace a nuvi 1450 that was damaged on a trip. The 1450 has been great for us but lacked map updates and had a poor touch screen.

We found that the nuvi 65 screen is almost unusable in our cars on a sunny day while wearing sunglasses. We tried various brightness setting and even switched to night mode, which makes some text a little easier to read. My wife had even more trouble reading the display than I did. I don't know why other reviewers haven't described this problem.

After talking with Garmin customer service (very polite) I exchanged the unit through Amazon. The second unit was identical, so I figured the problem was not a fluke. A visit to Best Buy revealed that all of the new Garmins seem to have this new type of display with less contrast and/or brightness as well as graphics with less contrast. The displays look fine indoors but comparing the new units to older (nuvi 50, dezl 760) units on their shelf, the problem is clearly across the new line. We returned the second unit and have ordered a nuvi 2555 and have our fingers crossed.

I'm disappointed because otherwise, the 65 had many advantages. I liked the new display of the street you are currently on at the bottom of the screen. The nuvi 65 has a much better touch screen than the 1450. I really liked the new split-screen display, particularly with the bigger 6" display. I preferred the 1450's odd state, city, street address entry method over the new one, but I think with some experimentation the new method might have been just as good. (I disliked the 1450 method until I noted the street name search advantages.) I also missed the option of displaying several data options on the main screen at once (elevation, arrival time, etc.

we used it on a quick trip to Lousiana last week and it was great. Put in the 5 or 6 addresses needed and it took us there without any problem. I like the warning when approaching a school zone. I will never purchase and onboard Navigation system. Before the 65 nuvi I had a small garmin in my truck and it worked flawlessly only problem was updating maps. The nuvi larger screen and the ability to make adjustments on the go is great.......and it gives my wife something to do!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE-3/8/14: A note of caution. The 65LMT is not compatible with the GARMIN SAFETY CAMERA software. This is odd since other, less capable versions of the GARMIN ESSENTIAL SERIES GPS units are capatible. I have changed my rating to 4 stars.

This a terrific GPS. I bought this to replace a 5" version of the 1450LMT because I wanted a little bigger display that is easier to read. 65LMT has 6" display with higher resolution. Overall operating speed in finding and updating routes and expanding maps is much higher. New menu system is refined and easier to used. Traffic works great and new power cable is more compact as it does not have the big section with the traffic receiver that is on the 1450 cable. New Garmin Express free software is easier to use to update maps and device software.

Overall I am very happy with this new Garmin device.
PS, I did not buy it from Amazon.

The nüvi 65LM is a big improvement over my previous GPS unit, a nüvi 750. It has a nice large screen and the lane assist and up ahead features have been particularly helpful. The data I need while driving is constantly displayed on the screen without my having to search for it, diverting my attention from driving. Since I don't use it frequently, navigating through the various screens while planning a trip sometimes requires a bit of thought and several attempts before I get the desired result. More frequent use would probably help that problem. Also, finding an address or location in the database isn't always easy, a problem that I've had with other Garmin GPS units. While I believe that I will always get to my intended destination and not get lost, I sometimes question, whether or not, that the route chosen by the GPS is actually the best and most direct. This problem is not unique to the 65LM but one that I have experienced with two previous Garmin GPS units. Overall, I have been very pleased with the nüvi 65LM and I'm looking forward to using it on an upcoming trip from Jacksonville, FL to Alpharetta, GA. Navigating through country roads, Interstate highways and the Atlanta metropolitan area should provide quite a test of my Garmin nüvi 65LM. Also, I highly recommend the on-dash friction mount over the supplied windshield suction cup mount.

I like the size and the system works well. Plus the ability to update the maps up to four times a year at no cost for the life of the product and then add in lifetime traffic, it makes the system well worth the money.

Better than the factory GPS in my Escalade. This is so easy to operate. Just three buttons and I can program the GPS.

This device did what it is expected to do flawlessly, so far. The graphics is good, software seems to be better in recognizing new places and optimum routes. I shall not hesitate to recommend the device to my friends.

I do NOT like the separate power cord and mounting bracket. Previous model incorporated power into the window suction cup mount. Much simpler.

Other features are good. Finds satellites very quickly. Waypoints ("active route") are easy to add and can add several instead of just one like my previous version.

Touch screen is more responsive.

Search function is still quirky AND different from before so I'm still getting the hang of it.

Glad to finally have one with "lifetime" map updates.
