Garmin GPS units are very user friendly. They work well "as shipped". My Marine unit quickly locks six or more satellites upon activation. The optional antenna will lock 10 or more sats in a signigicatly shorter time. This reduces the "error range" to almost nothing. Its easy to install and connect and the kit contains all the needed mounts to install the antenna just about anywhere you you want it. The cost(through Amazon)is well worth it. Don't leave shore without one!
