4.0 out of 5 stars It's a good Garmin, March 6, 2008
This review is from: Garmin Nuvi 250W Asian American GPS Unit (Electronics)
The only issue I have with it is since it doesn't have a flip out antenna sometimes it takes a long time to pick up the satellite signal or if it's not tucked right up to your windshield or your holding it outside, it may never find a satellite signal.

Otherwise, I really like the 250W Asian. I purchased it for my father who only speaks Cantonese and reads Chinese, but has a little English. He likes to go the San Francisco and Vancouver BC now that he is retired but with all the roads changing and new places to go with his friends they constantly get lost. It doesn't say on the box that it has Cantonese but it does, and it works great.(It has some other asian languages that aren't even listed!) I got him the 250W because since he is older he needs the wider screen, and all the other bells and whistles don't make sense for him. Since no matter what level of Nuvi you have, if you are choosing to use it in Chinese, it won't read the street names it's a wasted feature. Also, I didn't expect to use the FM Traffic or Mp3 capabilities (since it only had that one speak in the back what kind of sound could I expect? and I couldn't imagine him listening to MP3's :))

We use Verizon, and since Verizon blocks out most bluetooth systems except the ones they have a contract with the bluetooth capabilities were limited ( I Have a Garmin 360) so that seemed a waste also. All in all the Garmin 250W has everything a GPS system needs,is put together well and is easy to use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Garmin Quality and Navigation, September 8, 2008
This review is from: Garmin Nuvi 250W Asian American GPS Unit (Electronics)
Got this for its Korean American conversion. I really wished it spoke street names even if it did so in English. Navigation is straightforward as with any Garmin product. The interface is identical to the other Nuvi 250 products. The only shortcomings I see is that the dialog is rather limited to a few phrases and also can be hard to understand at times. Other than that, thanks go to Garmin for even offering something like this. I would give it 5 stars if they offered voice street names. But other than that it is a solid garmin product.
