5.0 out of 5 stars The Garmin Nuvi 750
Love the Nuvi 750, as the replacement for my old Magellan which died of old age. The newer abilities are quite useful: routing, ability to search for a saved address by spelling it, rather than scrolling through the entire list, the text-to-speech feature, etc. I use the Nuvi every day, and as a Realtor, this product has saved me real time.

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars okay but not great
A little on the slow side and recalculatings. Not all maps are correct for rural areas. A weather map feature would be awsome.

I travel extensevely and have always used Hertz "Never Lost" which I loved. Receintly I upgraded my cell phone to a Sprint BlackBerry with "TelNav", in hope of saving the $10 a day rental fee. TelNave has been nothing but problems and I was about to give up on handheld GPS technoligy when a friend recommended the Garmin Nuvi 750 which I've found to be the perfect portable device. It fits easly in a pocket, holds a 4-5 hour charge, picks up a good signal from the console of the car, is quick to power up and very quick to re-calculate routes if you miss a turn. The large screen and easy touch features make it easy to use with my over 40 eyes.
I'd recomend this unit to anyone just for the GPS function, but there's more..... the MP3 player and Picture Albums are great also.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, but now getting a bit outdated., June 15, 2011

I bought this for my wife, who had very poor vision. The wide screen was just what she needed, and it worked like a charm for her. I have been using it myself occasionally, and mostly it has been ideal. I suggest anyone who buys a Garmin GPS get the lifetime subscription for the maps. I also strongly recommend that anyone who buys a GPS connect it up to their computer right away to get any updates it may need. A lot of people had problems getting it to find the satellites, and others found, like me, that the updates fix that. Even so, it sometimes takes a while to find the satellite. It has once taken me down a dead-end road and told me to take a left turn, but I was able to turn around and it got me there anyway.
A minor complaint has been its habit of telling me to keep right (or left) to turn onto the road I am already on. This is because roads change names (a lot where I live) and it wants you to continue on the road. It is a bit confusing, and other GPSs that I have used don't do that, or not as much. Minor, but annoying. Other than that, it has worked faithfully and well.

We've never owned a GPS but hubby used very similar product from work. He loves it and I need to utilize it as well. Highly recommend.
