The Garmin 205 is great. It's way better than any other cyclocomputer I've used, and I've been riding for 10+ years. No magnets needed, no calibration. Move it from bike to bike in 2 seconds and go. I own 4 different bikes, and this one Garmin unit goes on them all. You can even use it for running. Just stick it in a pouch or MP3 player armband thingy and go. Once you've downloaded the info into your computer after the run, just drag and drop the info into the running folder in the Garmin training center and you are done. You can track every mile by the day, week, month, or year. This thing really helps you keep track of your training. It's really cool and well worth the money.

So I bought this 'cause the refurb was so cheap. used it about 100 times so far with no troubles. Nice for mapping out a ride. I like the way you can transfer your route to Google earth using the free software that came with it. Small enough to wear for hiking trips too, or vacationing. I took it on a long trek and using the time data for the check points, I was able to sync photos and create a Google Earth trip log. Not easy to read when mountain biking, but fun to have along (keeps your highest speed "score"). Easy to use too.

I recently purchased a refurbished unit for $130 from Amazon. IT is easy to use and a lot of fun. You can view the track in Google earth using the included software. I even used it on a plane once to track our flight. It recorded a high speed of 635 MPH and an elevation of over 39000 feet!
I primarily use it for mountain biking and it works in even the most dense areas I ride. The small screen is hard to read while biking, so you have to view your data after the ride. All in all, well worth the cash. |
