Experience nüRoute Technology with myTrends
With myTrends, nüvi 2200 recognizes your favorite destinations and over time predicts where you're going and provides estimated travel time. So whether you're driving to and from work or a regularly scheduled weekly event, your 2200 will help you get there on time. No subscription or added cost required.

Select Fuel-efficient Routes
nüvi 2200 saves you gas and money with ecoRoute--a green feature that calculates the most fuel-efficient route, tracks fuel usage and more. With ecoRoute, you have a "less fuel" option as a routing preference. When selected, nüvi will determine if a more fuel efficient route exists based upon road speed data and vehicle acceleration data for a given route.

Navigate City Transit
With its enhanced pedestrian navigation capabilities, nüvi 2200 is the perfect travel companion for getting around town. Download optional cityXplorer content to help you navigate city public transit. Know where to walk, where to catch the bus, subway, tram or other transportation and how long it will take to get there. cityXplorer maps are available for select cities throughout North America and Europe. And with prices as low as $9.99, you'll have money left over to spend in the big city.

Get Turn-by-Turn Directions
nüvi 2200 has an intuitive interface that greets you with two simple questions: "Where To?" and "View Map." Touch the color screen to easily look up addresses and services and get voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions that speak street names to your destination. It comes preloaded with City Navigator NT street maps for the continental U.S., Hawaii and Puerto Rico, millions of points of interest (POIs) and speed limits for most major roads. Its digital elevation maps show you shaded contours at higher zoom levels, giving you a big picture of the surrounding terrain. With the 2200's enhanced user interface, you can slide your finger to conveniently scroll between screens. You also can upload custom points of interest (POIs). And with HotFix satellite prediction, nüvi calculates your position faster to get you there quicker.

Go Beyond Navigation
Navigation is just the beginning. The 2200 includes many travel tools, including JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. With photo navigation, you can download pictures from Garmin Connect Photos and navigate to them. It's also compatible with lifetime traffic alerts (receiver purchase required). With its "Where Am I?" emergency locator, you always know your location. Simply tap the screen to get your exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and fuel stations. The 2200 features Garmin Lock, an anti-theft feature, and is compatible with our free Garmin Garage where you can download custom custom voices and vehicles. 2.0 out of 5 stars Worse than my 5 year old Nuvi 360 November 8, 2011
I purchased my Garmin Nuvi 2200 to replace my old 5-year-old Garmin Nuvi 360. Unfortunately, the Nuvi 2200 is inferior in almost every aspect. My Nuvi 360 had an annoying nag screen that you had to press "OK" to continue. The Nuvi 2200 has TWO nag screens! You have to click "agree" two different times every time you turn on the GPS. The first is agreeing to their terms and conditions, and the second is acknowledging a warning.

The touch screen suffers from the same poor quality as the old one (no improvement in 5 years) and sometimes you have to press buttons two or three times to get the GPS to recognize your input. It is nowhere NEAR the quality of my iPhone's touch screen.

Many options and features were taken away such as the mp3 player and the ability to turn off touch-tones, meaning every time you press a button you get the annoyingly loud "beep." And there's no way to turn it off without turning off the voice guidance instructions as well.

The Nuvi 2200 is smaller and lighter than the Nuvi 360, and Garmin has provided a nice feature of a free update to maps in the first 60 days of use. So even if the product was sitting on the shelves for six months, you still get updated maps. But when I opened the box of the Nuvi 2200, I was surprised to find NO protective case. I had to use the one that came with my old Nuvi 360.

The speaker and voice quality of the Nuvi 2200 is worse as well. My Nuvi 360 was clear, loud, and easy to understand. The new voice on Nuvi 2200 is computer like, difficult to understand, and not nearly loud enough even on the loudest level. Battery life is still around 4 hours, same as the old unit.

You would think with tougher competition from smart phone apps and 5 years of time, Garmin would have made drastic improvements on their product, but they have only gone downhill. I gave up on my Nuvi 2200 and purchased the $40 TomTom app for my iPhone. It does EVERYTHING better, was cheaper, and provides much better voice instructions. It will even work in either landscape or portrait mode.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than a step up July 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I recently purchased this product for my wife upgrading from my nuvi 1200 - thinking that it was the next step up from my version. It was more than that with features like speed limit alerts, easier operating system, and driving trends that learn your driving preferences (but you have to have it on all the time while driving). All and all, it's been about 50% better than my original. I'd recommend it. The only thing I wish from both Garmins is that the auxillary A/C power cord was longer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price February 24, 2012
By Chris
I got this unit at a discounted price, around $60 and it's worth every penny. It's hard to get used to such a small screen, specially coming from the 5-inch GPS world.
I currently own a Garmin 1450 and needed a second unit for a small car, cheap one, that's why I decided to buy this one. Speaker is kinda weak though, but I guess it's OK bearing the size of the unit.

Overall a good purchase, although I'll suggest a 5-inch model if you can afford it. you get a better perspective, and it's easier to read.
