Product Description

Product Packaging: Standard Packaging

Style. Passion. Intelligence. And that’s even before you turn it on.

Rugged and waterproof up to 1m¹, zūmo 350LM is built tough for bikers – by bikers. We tested it on rutted-out roads, cobblestone streets, in heavy rain and glaring sunshine and the result was always the same – zūmo kept on navigating.

See the Open Road

zūmo 350LM features a highly visible, sunlight-readable 4.3” (10.9 cm) touchscreen display with a simple glove-friendly interface. With a Bluetooth™-enabled helmet or headset (sold separately), you can get clear, turn-by-turn spoken directions. Also included is a motorcycle-specific mount so zūmo rides sturdy, and you ride with confidence. There's even a car mount included for automotive navigation.

Write a Story a Thousand Miles Long

The new Service History Log lets you record the date, mileage and type of maintenance performed on your motorcycle. Tire mileage, tire changes, tire pressure, chain cleanings, oil changes, new spark plugs – anything you can think of, zūmo will keep a record of it.

Go Anywhere with BaseCamp™

Use BaseCamp to plan your next ride. You can create routes, waypoints and tracks from your computer and transfer them to your zūmo. The “Track Draw” feature lets you trace your planned route and view elevation changes, helping you estimate the difficulty of your ride. Plan the perfect scenic route, making sure your navigator takes you through your favorite places. Even play back your trips over time and save and share your adventure.

Navigation with Lifetime Maps

zūmo 350LM offers you the convenience of lifetime map updates², which gives you up-to-date mapping and the most current information about businesses like restaurants, ATMs, hospitals and more.

zūmo’s premium navigation search bar returns results for points of interest (POIs) as you type them in giving you a faster, more intuitive experience. There’s also a speed limit indicator and Exit Services that show you parks, gas stations, shops and restaurants for upcoming exits. With TracBack you can ride wherever the road takes you, then navigate along that same route back to where you started.

No more guessing which lane you need to be in to make an upcoming turn. Lane assist with junction view guides you to the correct lane for an approaching turn or exit, making unfamiliar intersections and exits easy to navigate. It realistically displays road signs and junctions on your route along with arrows that indicate the proper lane for navigation.

The Zumo 350LM works fine as a GPS. But if you are expecting to connect to this Zumo GPS and a phone or other device, be aware that this model only connects to one device, and only to a "headset" type device.

If you expect to use this model like the other models of Zumo's, like the 660/665, the 350LM does not connect to anything other than one headset/helmet. Therefore the typical use, of connecting your phone to the GPS, and the GPS to your helmet, isn't going to work. But it is hard to find that out until you try, or call, or find the right thing to read. I was unable to find details on specific Bluetooth connections/capabilities of this unit until I ordered it and tried it. If you have questions about how it works, it is best to go to the Garmin site and download the user manual first. I have returned the 350LM and will try to find another unit that does what I need it to do (maybe the 660/665, or some other brand GPS).

As this Zumo looked like it was a completely new design (rugged, weatherproof, etc.), and perhaps the new direction for the Zumo family, I assumed Garmin would have migrated the features of the older units into the 350LM, but that is not the case. For the time being, at least as far as the family goes, the Zumo 350LM is the new low end model.

There are some odd things about how this model works too. All other Garmin's that I have used allow you to easily save an address or POI when you find it, but the Zumo (maybe for ease with gloves?) adds an icon with 3 bars ("menu") on almost every screen. When you find an address your options are to cancel, get info, or Go. In order to save what you found, you have to get info, then tap the 3-bar menu icon, then save. Quite a bit more clunky than the way a Nuvi works.

This Garmin gps is as advertised. It is rugged, easy to see in any lighting conditions, and I am able to use with my gloves on. I went through some pretty bad rain storms and no problems.
The things that I do not like is the basecamp software that you use on the computer to make routes. It is like going back to the DOS operating system. Very un-friendly. The other thing I didn't like was the price. Seems to be overpriced but if it last a while then I am willing to pay for that. Only months old now so we will see.

When I look for a GPS (and I've owned MANY), I have a few basic criteria to meet. This is how the Zumo 350LM stacks up:
1- Is satellite acquisition fast and sensitive?
-The 350LM is probably the best I've ever had here. It picked up more sats, in less time, and in places (in my basement) others couldn't conceive of doing on their best day.
2- Does it have a clear, intuitive display?
-I *do* realize how difficult it is satisfy *all* preferences in *all* areas for this. I was able to run through every function without a single glance at the User's Manual. This says intuitive. Would I tweak a thing or two on how it displays data? I don't think there's anyone that wouldn't. Different strokes. However, I think Garmin did an outstanding job in trying to please as many as possible, in as many areas as possible regarding the display and apps.
3- How easy is it to mount with and without wired power?
-Garmin includes mounts for both the bike and car. That's a good thing. However, I have one issue with the bike mount. Why not standardize on USB for power, instead of the proprietary plug? Yes, I know you can use USB on the 350LM as well (in fact the car mount does it this way). However, the cradle for the bike covers the USB port, and requires the proprietary connection. Many of us *already* have distribution blocks, and/or wired USB or standard 12v power ports on our bikes. How about providing an option for that, like the same RAM mount cradle WITHOUT blocking the USB port, like the car cradle (which you can't use on a bike). Yes, I know it's a 2A circuit, and many wired power ports are less. Just make a notation that it requires a 2A port. This is where it lost a star.
4- Are the routes it calculates logical, based on entered preferences?

I will post more after this weekend when I've have done a 100mi through the Santa Cruz mountains on my motorcycle.

Consider this a pre-review, however I wanted to comment that my biggest complaints about the Zumo 665LM are fixed on the 350LM. Even though the spec sheet states that both 350LM and 665LM have the exact same screen, for whatever reason, the 350LM screen is MUCH brighter at 100% than the 665LM screen is at 100%... its night and day.

The 350LM is also better and more intuitive left glove design than the 665LM.

The 350LM is black plastic, not black plastic painted grey like the 665LM.. which when scratched shows black under the grey paint. The 665LM is square and blocky with a truck sized wiring harness that you cannot remove. The 350LM is sleeker and sexier looking, and has a reasonable wiring harness that *is* removable.

the 350LM has a slot for mSD card which can be accessed without removing it from the motorcycle mount and without removing a batter cover.

In short the 350LM appears to be what the 665LM should have been, less XM features and more complete bluetooth support.

I'm not sure its fair for people to bash the 350LM for not being able to pair with a phone, when its only advertized the pair with headset... I understand taking away 1 star for that lack of feature at a $600 price point, but its not falsely advertised so I think the 1 and 2 star reviews are overly harsh and done by people who didn't try out the 665LM first...

UPDATE: 6 months and I almost love this GPS. I probably like it more because I hated the 660LM, yet it does what I need. The highway lane assist has actually been very helpful, though I didn't think I would care at first.
