5.0 out of 5 stars Best shoe ever.
'Nuff said.
...but for posterity's sake:
If you do your homework - if you know your size and you have tried a Garmont last before - you won't be disappointed. Gore-tex upper is sturdy, waterproof, and fairly breathable to boot. Shoe is super stable, especially laterally, yet light enough for everyday wear. Perfect for all occasions. Perfect.
Best shoe...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good design, but...
I'm giving these 2 stars for brilliant design, but poor execution. Garmont clearly put a lot of effort into making every little aspect of the shoe perfect for hiking, but even the best design means little if it is made poorly.

Surprise; a shoe manufacturer compromising on materials and quality control by moving production to a factory in China...

Surprise; a shoe manufacturer compromising on materials and quality control by moving production to a factory in China...

I have owned two pairs of these. The first pair I got had a big bubble under the insole which made walking for more than a few blocks quite uncomfortable. Little issues like that will always slip by once in a while in a factory, so I traded them in for another pair which was perfect. Until 2 months of not-so-heavy use, when various seams started splitting apart, the toe and sole started coming unglued, and waterproofing was lost. I couldn't walk across a dewy field without getting my feet wet, much less a wet hiking trail.

I liked the shoes so much that I got a second pair. This one has an uneven area (kind of a bump) that rubs up against my ankle, which literally rubbed a hole through my skin (ouch) after a 2 mile hike. There is just no quality control going on here.

The 21st century promised flying cars and jetpacks. Instead we got cheap Chinese manufactured goods. What a rip off!

I've been wearing a previous pair of Nagevis for almost 3 years and wore through the sole, so time to replace them.

I didn't think they could do better, but the few changes they made are well received. The shoe simply fits me perfectly. My feet aren't wider than normal, but more rectangular in shape (My fourth toe is as long as my big toe!) and the front foot box fits them very well. I feel very stable in these shoes and the subtle redesign fits my arched feet much better. In appearance, they seem much more light hiking shoe and a lot less skater shoe like the earlier Nagevis could sometimes come across.

I can't wait to take these on a light hike or rock scramble. I am curious to see how long these hold up as the craftsmanship and synthetic materials come across as a little bit subpar compared to the last pair. We will see!

While Garamont makes the some of the best footwear I've ever owned, this is not the case with the Nagevi. It's simply a sizing issue and the difference is that these come slightly short on the length and the width is much tighter than their hiking boots or other approach shoes I've bought from Garamont.
