5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable & compassionate choice for trails and streets
I bought these shoes several months ago. They were super comfortable the first time out. I've worn them for long day hikes in the redwoods and hills of the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as when I've spent all day on my feet on asphalt volunteering. Seems in general (not just this boot) that Garmont shoes run small. I bought these a half-size larger than I normally...

I was pleased to find a vegan hiking shoe for a reasonable price. The shoe fit was strange. They were a bit too short with my toe hitting the end and a lot too wide. I wasn't keen on the color either but I wanted them for hiking not fashion. I am sending them back. They will not be comfortable to wear hiking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best hiking boots ever!, March 10, 2009
This review is from: Garmont Women's Kiowa Vegan Hiking Boot (Apparel)
These are the most comfortable hiking boots I have ever had. They required NO break-in. I put them on, and spent all day Christmas shopping. No blisters, or sore feet. I actually look for things to wear with them because they are so comfortable, which isn't hard to find. They feel like your favorite pair of tennis shoes. Not bulky, stiff, or heavy. All of the features really work with your feet. I would definitely recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Cruelty-free Boot for Avid Hiking or Rugged Work, December 13, 2011
This review is from: Garmont Women's Kiowa Vegan Hiking Boot (Apparel)
I've used this boot for about 4 years now and here's the deal:

-They're waterproof - I stepped in a huge mud puddle the other day and the boot dried in moments
-Grips well: I've been up and down ladders, hiked on ice and in snow, even on some very rugged, rocky boulder-ridden trails and have never slipped (knock on wood)
-Warm but not too warm - GREAT for Fall/Winter Hiking with a heavy sock yet lightweight enough for Spring and Summer as well
-Good support and COMFORTABLE

I honestly can't say a bad thing about these boots. And I love that they're Vegan! Just goes to show that animal products aren't the answer!

Again, 4 years of hiking, working, walking and no damage nor wear is even apparent. They're also quite attractive.

I would recommend these to the serious Hiker as well.

A truly fantastic VEGAN, Cruelty-free product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Hiking Shoe!, January 2, 2012
This review is from: Garmont Women's Kiowa Vegan Hiking Boot (Apparel)
I bought these shoes last May 2011 and have been very pleased with them. I wore them on a trip into the rugged Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, wore them riding my mountain bike all summer, wore them on 10 + mile hikes on rugged terrain with bushwhacking involved, and recently wore them hiking through a foot of snow in the woods. They do provide some warmth but my feet did get slightly cold in the snow, however they stayed dry. I also wear them to work. They are very comfortable with nice traction and ankle support. The material is surprisingly rugged and well put together for involving no leather or suede. Aside from stains and dirt from lots of use, I could have bought them yesterday for how good of shape they are still in. The only minor problem I noticed when I first wore them is that they didnt provide enough arch support for my very high arched feet. I simply placed arch supports inside and it did the trick wonderfully. I love love love these shoes and would buy them again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very comfortable!, December 4, 2011
This review is from: Garmont Women's Kiowa Vegan Hiking Boot (Apparel)
I became a fan of Garmont after buying these boots. They are very light and comfortable. It is also a vegan product, which is important for me. I wish Garmont make more vegan shoe models.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful vegan hiking boot, November 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a great pair of vegan hiking boots, which are incredibly hard to find at an afforadble price. They are sized exactly (meaning you don't have to buy a size up or down). I highly recommend slowly breaking them in before any trek. They pinch my heels quite a bit, so I have to wear thick socks and a bandaid once in a while, but they are strong, comfortable, and warm. The slightly high ankle provides support, and they do appear to keep the water out of the shoe. When they finally bite the dust, I will be buying another pair.
