I've been a fan of Garnier before the line was available in the US/was sold only on the black market (haha jk). I used their soft curl cream (now discontinued) before I tried this product. My hair is layered, long, wavy, thick, "hard" as my son says (lol), and color treated. This cream gel amazingly holds curls for TWO DAYS, not in a wet way, and allows them to remain bouncy! It doesn't feel great in your palm/is sticky, and smells a lot like glue during application, but the smell doesn't linger. I scrunch it only on the bottom half of my hair after washing, usually air-dry, then use a curling iron. Whatever excess I have on my fingertips, I use to tame unruly baby hairs.

I have very thick short-to-mid length naturally curly hair. This, applied when my hair is still wet, allows my hair to dry in curls that are not rock-hard as they are with most gels. In the past, I either had to go for very hard curls, or curls that were softer but would let my hair become a big poufy mess after a little while. This seems to be the best of both worlds. And it smells pretty nice, too.

I love this product. It holds my curls without being heavy or slicky. And when you rinse it out, it leaves your hair soft and conditioned. Fight the frizz!

I use this on my 7 year old daughter who has very curly very long hair almost down to her waist. We hate using mousse because her hair would feel too "crunchy" and gel was a sticky gooey mess that would almost always flake off. This is perfect. It says sculpting gel, but the texture is nothing like gel. I would say its a cross between a cream and a serum. Its very lightweight. I put it on her while her hair is still wet and comb it through with a wide tooth comb. When it dries, she has these gorgeous, perfectly formed silk spirals. Ive been using this on her for about 3 months now and I really don't feel the need to look for anything else :)

I bought this after contacting garnier to ask about what product might be a good replacement for the soft curl cream that they no longer make. They told me that this product was not exactly the same, but was a good substitute. Incidentally, I have shoulder length hair with tight curls - about the width of a pencil.

I don't like it at all. It doesn't smell very good, first of all. The fragrance is that same fruity smell that all their products have, but this one also has a strong chemical smell - like alcohol, although there's not alcohol on the ingredient list.

The product looks like you might expect a "cream gel" to look. It has the consistency of gel, but is opaque white.

I used it 6 or 7 times and experimented with different amounts of it. If I used too little, then my hair was frizzy, flyaway, and completely out of control. I tried using more, and it was too much. My hair felt crunchy like it had too much gel in it. I tried progressively smaller amounts, but still kept getting that horrible fake wet look. It was like I'd used a half bottle of LA Looks gel that had been sitting in my bathroom since 1986.

This stuff also was very hard to wash out of my hair.

Very sad that I haven't found a substitute for the curl cream - that stuff was great.

I'm new to long hair (I'm a guy) and to hair products for curly hair. I've had short hair my whole life and didn't even know my hair had any curl until I decided to grow it out the last couple years. My hair is naturally blonde, fine but thick, and my "curl" is more of a "wave," with much more curl toward the ends than near the roots. I bought this product to try to make the most out of my wavy hair. It works decently. I usually use no products whatsoever, and this stuff works as well as any other product I've put in my hair for the same reason. Nothing miraculous or especially great though. Take that for what its worth, since I don't have much experience to compare to. It does feel greasy as well and I feel like I had to use more than I would have liked to get results.

On to the real reason I'm giving this 2 stars... This product smells terrible! Another reviewer said it smells kind of like alcohol. I would have to agree, but a simple alcohol smell wouldn't be all that bad. No, this product smells like fermenting bread yeast in the process of creating alcohol. It's awful. The slight tinge of anything that may pass as "fruity" does nothing to improve this smell. Generally I don't mind the smell of GF's products. I don 't love them, but I tolerate them just fine. This product, however, is intolerable. I do not plan on using it again. Good thing it was cheap, since it's going in the trash.

Love this stuff. My hair is very thick and has a natural wave and curl to it. The shorter it gets, the curlier it becomes. The hard part is the curls are not very 'organized' and they frizz during humid weather. When it is windy, I look like a big fuzzy dandelion going to seed! I love Garnier Fructis Curl Sculpting Gel because it makes my hair's curl look more like a gentle curl without looking like a frizzy mess! Thanks!

this product has a creamy consistancy and a light stiffening that you can leave in or pic out - it's great for scrunching hair.
