5.0 out of 5 stars Hope they make this stuff forever! November 14, 2010
I'm absolutely thrilled with this product and have been using it for several months now...only not at all as directed. First of all, my hair is straight as straw and on the fine side. When I don't do anything to it, it looks limp and lifeless. I'm also a bit of a tomboy in that I absolutely hate messing with my hair. I like to take a quick shower, let it air dry and be on my way.

When I first tried this product, I applied it as directed when my hair was damp. No results. Then one day I tried spraying it liberally onto my dry hair (and scrunching a bit) to see what it would do. It dried into beautiful, messy waves but they were a little too stiff and crunchy and "wet" looking. I've since found a good balance, applying it from root to tip lightly throughout my (dry, freshly washed) hair...being careful to get even coverage without making any "wet" spots. Truly, you're just dampening your hair with it. And what you get is sexy, tossled waves without the crunch. You can't exactly run your fingers through it without tangling, but it is soft to the touch.

I absolutely love how I look now. My hair is textured and full and it FINALLY has some life to it without any effort at all. My only fear is that Garnier will someday discontinue this product and I'll be up a creek. I'm half tempted to start hoarding the stuff in case that happens, lol.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works with practice September 19, 2010
I have baby fine, long, straight hair. No waves for me. I recently had an urge for curls but was afraid of a perm damaging my hair. I bought several products that continually disappointed me. My hair does not hold curl well, even with hot rollers. Finally, after a lot of trial & error, I found this product works the best for me. Keep in mind my hair is naturally straight so if your hair has some wave to it, you probably won't have to go to the trouble I do. The way this works for me is I wash my hair & use my typical products (I use volume mousse) and let it air dry. Once dry, just before bed, I spray liberal amounts in my dry hair from about ear length down. Once it's a little damp from the product, I pull it back in a pony tail with hands & twist the hair around & then up into a tight bun that I secure with bobby pins. In the morning, when I let the hair down, I have messy waves that I finger lose & eventually they end up looking like very loose curls. I usually use a light amount of hair spray or curl spray and they stay all day long! This product will be a bit drying, you will find it adds texture to the hair and some volume. I have tried the method of spraying this in my hair while it's still damp but it did nothing for me. As far as smell, this has the typical smell of Garnier Fructis which is a kind of fruity scent that I like.

2.0 out of 5 stars I really wanted to love this... September 26, 2011
After reading piles of reviews from people with all different hair types claiming that this product is a holy grail for those looking to tame their hair into beautiful beachy waves, I had to try it. I have fairly thick somewhat wavy hair just past my shoulders. For years all I've been able to do is straighten my hair with a flattening iron. I wanted to try something new and what really appealed to me about this product was that it was meant to be applied before letting your hair air-dry. Anything that keeps me from needing to use my hair dryer and ultimately lessen any heat damage on my hair is a dream product.

I followed the directions on the bottle. I wrapped my hair in a towel for 15 minutes after my shower, before brushing it out and parting it. I applied the product to my damp hair and scrunched it. I didn't notice any difference after the scrunching, so I twisted sections separately to add detail. And then I waited. And waited. And waited. As my hair slowly air dried, there was none of the definition or shine I had been hoping for. The spray didn't enhance any natural waves and by the time my hair had fully dried it looked exactly the same as if I hadn't used the product at all. I was heartbroken to say the least.

The only difference I did notice after using Wonder Waves was that my hair had the signature Garnier Fructis smell to it afterwards and that it did feel a bit heavier and slightly sticky. I was compeled to shower again the following morning to get the remnants of this stuff out of my hair as quickly as possible.

Garnier products are hit or miss for me. This one, unfortunately, is another miss. This is particularly disappointing since it seems to have worked so well for so many other people. I might try it again if I feel adventurous in case I'm doing anything wrong, but unless the results change dramatically for me, this is a flop.

The two stars are for the reasonable price of the product (less than $4) and the Garnier Fructis fragrance, which is always nice.
