I have baby fine, long, straight hair. No waves for me. I recently had an urge for curls but was afraid of a perm damaging my hair. I bought several products that continually disappointed me. My hair does not hold curl well, even with hot rollers. Finally, after a lot of trial & error, I found this product works the best for me. Keep in mind my hair is naturally straight so if your hair has some wave to it, you probably won't have to go to the trouble I do. The way this works for me is I wash my hair & use my typical products (I use volume mousse) and let it air dry. Once dry, just before bed, I spray liberal amounts in my dry hair from about ear length down. Once it's a little damp from the product, I pull it back in a pony tail with hands & twist the hair around & then up into a tight bun that I secure with bobby pins. In the morning, when I let the hair down, I have messy waves that I finger lose & eventually they end up looking like very loose curls. I usually use a light amount of hair spray or curl spray and they stay all day long! This product will be a bit drying, you will find it adds texture to the hair and some volume. I have tried the method of spraying this in my hair while it's still damp but it did nothing for me. As far as smell, this has the typical smell of Garnier Fructis which is a kind of fruity scent that I like.
