I think Misia's "Garras Dos Sentidos" is probably the best form of poetic expression I have ever heard. It is passionate, tragic...and so, SO beautiful. Her voice has a light air of nostalgia that made me think of Lisbon's Barrio Alto. My words will not do her amazing singing ability justice...buy it and experience it yourself.

I was desperate for a good fado fix and this did the job! Her vocals are strong and smokey: she sings her heart out! She doesn't sing to please the quiet calm some people may be seeking in Portuguese music, but rather an emotional course of notes and vocal projections that capture the essence of the pieces on the album.

This one is definitely a "keeper"!

I have all of Misia's CDs, plus many more fado albums, and I have no hesitation in saying, like the first reviewer, that this is the best. Some tracks stand out, such as Danca de M‡goas, where the poem is by the great 20thC poet Fernando Pessoa, N‹o me chamem pelo nome, with words by the 19th/20thC gay poet, Antonio Botto, and Da vida quero os sinais. These all bring me out in goosebumps, but the album as a whole makes for very fine listening. Misia has just been made a chevalier des arts et lettres by the French government, and it may not be long before she is properly recognized in the Anglo-Saxon world as one of the greatest voices of her generation and a true heiress to the great Am‡lia.

Perfect voice, sensational poetry, beautiful instrumentation. I could go on and on. Garras Dos Sentidos is by far the best CD I have found in years! Am trying to obtain earlier recordings of Misia, and welcome any suggestions on how to do so. Seems like none are available in U.S. This is a must for any music lover!

This is one of those CD's that goes straight to the heart. There is no escaping from the fascinating voice of Misia singing her heart out in the mysterious and melancholic Portugese fados. Listen to the title track, Danca de Magoas or the two Fados de Retorno and you'll know it: this is original, this is genuine, this is what life is all about. If you want the best of tango and blues, well, this is it.

Fado music always has a powerful emotional wallop, but Misia adds something very special - a sophistication that takes it almost to the edge of jazz. The arrangements are just exquisite, and her voice has an extraordinary range of timbre and feeling. Very highly recommended.

Traditionally, the singing of Fado is inspired by a feeling of Saudade -- which literally means longing but comprises all the heartache, melancholy and weltschmerz you can ever feel. In Misias music, it's all there. It goes straight to your heart.

Misia is such a revolutionary figure in the Fado world. This CD consists of traditional fados with new lyrics by contemporary Portuguese poets. Her voice is as colorful as ever and the instrumentation (violin, acordeon, plus the Portuguese guitar), make this an easy 5 star choice!

I love misia's voice. It is unique and full of passion and emotion. I believe that she is the modern day Amalia Rodriguez. Garras Dos Sentidos is the second Misia album that I have purchased, and while it is very much up to her high standard of quality, It is not as beautiful as Paixoes Diagonais. I only wish that more of her music becomes available here in the U.S.A.

Wonderful CD-VERY highly recommended. I especially liked Misia's interpretation of Pessoa's work.
