Pretty comfortable and they seem well built.

The cord is long enough to leave the detector on the ground while digging and keep the headphones on your head.

Use these for their intended purpose. Feel very comfortable and lite. Will make you sweat a little but thats to be expected from full head phones. Good sound and keeps out unwanted backround noise. Good sound adjustment.

I must disagree with the previous posters. I purchased these headphones to use with my Silver Umax, Compadre, and Fisher F5. The sound is no where near as clear as it is with my Killer B's. Then again, they're only 30 bucks. Note: It's important to match the impedance of headphones to get the best sound. These are OK for starting out, but you're going to want better headphones very soon. The plus side is these headphones are VERY comfortable. I've had no problems hunting for hours with them on. The wire to the cuff however, does make a distracting sound when you're using silent discrimination. That could probably be fixed by adding some shrink tubing where the wire meets the cuff.

A real review: So far four stars in appearance and air test. Just got these phones today and will be field testing tomorrow, then I will do an update. Many of the reviews about these phones are useless and for the sake of those actually considering these phones I will give you a report fitting of the sport of MD. One thing right off the top is the product description and a feature that upset a couple of reviewers and for good reason. It has to do with this part of the Product description -- "...1/8-inch Mini Plug with 1/4-inch plug adaptor..." -- this is not true, there is no adapter. I was a bit apprehensive about this part of the description for the opposite reason of the other two reviewer, I did not want to have to use a 1/8" mini plug adapter and after checking with the manufacture I found that it is a 1/4" jack on the end of the pig tale with a 90 degree jack and when I received the phones today I can say, it is most definitely a 1/4" male jack and there is not adapter of any kind in the package. That aside, I gave the phones an air test over a penny, dime, quarter and half-dollar. The sound separation was great and distinct, the quarter and dime being close but slightly different. The sound is clear and no unusual sounds or noise as you might hear in cheaper phones. I have a good set of phone loaned to me by a friend, until I received my new phones. My older and cheaper phones lasted about a year and began to fall apart and the sound began jumping all around -- these were a cheap set they used to package with Bounty Hunters MD Kits. The loaners are Jimmy Sierra's phones and look a lot like the $120 Gray Ghost, same shape and specs.Read more ›

What you might ask... I say exactly. This set of headphones allows the user to do their metal detecting in a way not to bother others of what they are doing. Each ear has its own volume control and ability to change from stereo and mono. The chord is long enough as to drop your detector down and start digging and not removing your headphones while doing so. You can tell that these phones are not cheaply made.... durable to last. I would completely recomend getting a pair!!

I bought this headset because I also bought a Garrett Metal Detector and I figured they would work well together. Well they shure do! Excellent sound both mono and stereo, volumn controls work as they should. My first metal detection project was near a rushing stream (in flood) and these were very neccessary. The soft gel around the ears makes them comfortable and you can hear what you need to. They are snug and on a hot day long use could get a little sweaty. I don't find this a real issue so I gave them a 5.

This is probably not the use case these headsets were designed for, but I couldn't find a similar design that would do the job. I was looking for headsets to be used by singers to record vocals in a studio setup. I create the audio mix via the aux ports on my mixer so they can hear the instruments and music tracks, but it is not convenient for them to communicate with me regarding the volume, and boy are they picky about the volume. Individual volume control on each ear cup in this model comes handy. I also do not want to occupy two aux ports for a stereo output. This model has the mono mode that can play a single aux port output to both ear cups. I found the sound quality to be excellent. I investigated similar headsets used in classroom setup for language learning. Those headphones have similar features in terms of volume control and stereo/mono mode, but many people complain about lack of comfort and poor sound quality. I have not tried the others but I am happy with this model.

The bigger 1/4" plug works perfectly with a professional grade mixer (no need for a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter, which I keep losing). The only thing I need to do is to cover the word "Mental Detector" on the headset so I don't get to asked a lot of questions.
