This review is from: Garry Kasparov's Chess Puzzle Book (Paperback)
As you may well know, Garry Kasparov is the highest rated player in chess history, it is said that he aclompished that because of his deep knowledge and preparation in openning theory, his extreme study in the end game, but most of all, he is considered a combination genius. Some of his most impresive victories come from amazing sacrifices and moves that lead to unquestionable wins, and now you can have them explained to you by the master himself, who in his own words, tactics is the most important thing to be studied in chess, after tactics have been mastered one can move to openings.

Not only will he explain the moves from his own games, but from other masters as well like, Kramnik, Anand, Polgar, Shirov, and many others. The book is dividen in perfectly defined sections like queen sacrifices and rook sacrifices with a short exaple at the begining of each chapter and a collection of exercises taken out from real master's games. A little hard for complete begginers, but nevertheless invaluable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Garry Kasparov's puzzle book, June 8, 2000
This review is from: Garry Kasparov's Chess Puzzle Book (Paperback)
This book is great! Ideal 4 the improving player.Written by the world's best attacking player! What else can u ask 4! You 'll be in 4 some spectacular combinations!

It has a chapter for every piece (usually the combination starts with that piece)& a few annotated games at the start of each chapter too (usually from crunch time until resignation) It opens your mind to new posivilities & they serve as new chess weapons to players unwary of them.A VERY good book.

The only drawback is that you know with wich piece the combination starts with, wich makes it sometimes too obvious the starting move order. On the 2nd puzzle book by Kasparov this is improved by giving you hints of what the position calls for, so you will have to guess what piece is the one the combo start with.
