1.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful art style, horrendously buggy gameplay June 12, 2013
Developed by Dead Mage Inc. and released in 2011 by Just A Game, Garshasp - The Monster Slayer is a third person hack'n'slash fantasy adventure game. Based on the adventures of the mythological Persian hero Garshasp, the story follows the legendary Conan-esque monster slayer in his fight against the evil Deevs (Demons) after they brutally slay his brother and steal the legendary Mace of Trit. Here are my thoughts on Garshasp - The Monster Slayer;

Pros

+ Brutal and bloody combat.

+ Beautiful art style.

+ Some nice graphics, especially Garshasp and his enemies.

+ Unique and vicious looking creatures. Weapons are also great looking.

+ Excellent orchestral soundtrack (minus the few electric guitar inserts) that fits the gameplay.

Cons <Contains SPOILERS>

- Bugs, bugs and more bugs. Here are some examples of the terrible and unnacceptable glitches I experienced while playing;

1. In the jungle level during a heavy jumping sequence one of the swinging platforms spawned elsewhere in the level leaving me unable to progress any further in the game. The area was also in the middle of the level and required 4 different reloads from the very beginning just to see if the platform spawned in the correct location.

2. In the stronghold level the rolling floor blades were off the path and clipping through walls leaving me unable to see when they were coming or where they were coming from.

3. Final boss got stuck on the border of the platform leaving me unable to perform the necessary finishing maneuvers to defeat him. The fight was frustrating enough and then to have this happen was a serious problem. It made a difficult final fight unnecessarily tougher.

4.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth the $1.25 I paid for it... January 14, 2013

I'm not a hard core gamer, in fact I don't have that much time to play at all. So I wasn't expecting, nor was I looking for, the latest and greatest in gaming. The game is OK. It looks good (not great) on my system, and the in game explanations for how to do stuff works fine. I have two main problems with the game. First, I always find save points to be annoying. Since I generally get a chance to play before going to sleep at night, I find myself having to choose between staying up later than I want in order to find the next save point, or losing some of my progress. Second is the fact that the camera angle changes automatically during movement, such that the movement key I'm holding is no longer moving me in the direction I want to go. This has cause me to fall off a ledge several times already, and I'm not that far into the game.

It's cheap, and doesn't involve too much thought, so I'll probably finish it, but I also probably won't be looking to get the sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Garshasp Review June 13, 2013

(I gave it 4 stars to counter the other two reviews)

Garshasp: Monster Slayer is mediocre game that is worth 1,25 , considering it is an indie game developed by 9 people it deserves praise , the one thing I found annoying however is the camera angles , the weren't complimentary to the game itself .
