Best Multi-Media I Have Experienced in a Decade,
By Mediamaniac (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gartel- Trance, Dance and Other Living Things Vol. 1 (DVD)
Anyone into multi-media production knows or should know who Laurence Gartel is. This guy was doing Paintbox, Photoshop, Quark, and the likes before there was Paintbox, Photoshop, Quark, etc. Actually before there were home PC's! If you are interested in multi-media, animation or photography this DVD is a must. If you are into surround sound with visuals that will literally make you dizzy, then this DVD is a must. Thousands of Students at Universities all over the Country are trying to develop what is already on this DVD, so get it, and it will most certainly help you achieve a new vision. The "Father of Digital Media" Laurence Gartel is back, and we are all going to benefit from it. This DVD should be number 1 on Amazon, and it will take customers like you and I to help get it there. You can sample and hear some of the product at www.gartelraveparty.com, however the little pictures just do not do justice to the actual DVD. You can then buy it from Amazon, which has a very fair price.

Gartel is Gartel,
By Erich Moreau "Dancin Bear" (Miami, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gartel- Trance, Dance and Other Living Things Vol. 1 (DVD)
I am into Multi Media and the fact Gartel used an Apple Computer should be commended not condemed. It shows that we all have the ability to create works of art if our hearts are into it. I am most certainly not comparing myself to Gartel, he sets the bar, and we all try to jump over it. Gartel is always trying new things that create controversy. Just read the few reviews here, and there is already a debate. That is what art is supposed to create! Debate, discussion, and vision. Gartel has certainly achieved this with his DVD, and both he and the DVD are worth our support. Cudo's to you Mr. Gartel.

I Like The Gartel DVD, but Thanks for the Apology Eghy,

This review is from: Gartel- Trance, Dance and Other Living Things Vol. 1 (DVD)
Read all the reviews, including Eghy's (old review, plus his apology review). It takes a big man to apologize, so I give Eghy cudo's for that, but he is still a sarcastic fellow, which he obviously cannot help. I enjoyed his responses though, they made me giggle. Sorry he did not like the Gartel DVD, I must be one of those minions that liked it. I am a very visual person and the images were actually a bit too intense for my taste, but unique just the same. I would not hesitate to recommend it, and most of my friends that I showed it to, liked it. There were a few Eghy's that did not like it, but that is what Art in Multi-media is all about. Eghy seems to be a nice fellow, so no hard feelings, we will just agree to disagree. I will continue to check out his reviews on other products. Eghy is very knowledgeable, just missed the mark this time around. Gartel is the "Father of Digital Media." You buy this DVD because they are Gartel Images. The millions that have enjoyed his works at Museums, and thousands that have spent alot of money buying his works, now have the ability to take them home, and enjoy them in a multi media format. That is what this DVD is about. Eghy obviously would not like Andy Warhol's works in this sort of format either, and now I at least understand why he did not like it. This is definitely not Star Wars, or Pixar, or Dreamworks, it is Gartel, on his usual cutting edge.

Cannot Believe The Review from Eghy,
By Bertha Morales "Happy Mom" (San Juan, Puerto Rico) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gartel- Trance, Dance and Other Living Things Vol. 1 (DVD)
Maybe Eghy is far more sophisticated than I am. Maybe Eghy knows more than GADA Magazine, Art Crusade Magazine, or Computer Graphics World Magazine. You can view the reviews at http://www.gartelraveparty.com or look up the reviews yourself like I did before I bought the DVD. I read the reviews at Amazon, and in general I felt the same way, but since I work very hard for my money, I made the extra effort to research the DVD on my own. I went to Mr. Gartel's website, I went to the various websites referenced in the Google search engine, and I watched a couple of samples from the DVD, as well as listened to all the songs at gartelraveparty.com before I bought it. I knew exactly what I was going to get, and I received exactly what I saw and heard on the site. I liked the DVD. I liked the images, and I liked the music. Will it win an Academy Award- I do not think so, but to say what you say is an insult to any Artist especially an Artist such as Gartel. Laurence Gartel is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian. Many of the images on the DVD are on display or have been on display at various legitimate museums. Go to his website gartelmuseum.com, and you can read all about Mr. Gartel. He will be the special guest at the Scottsdale International Film Festival, he will be lecturing at The Museum of Contemporary Art, his works have been displayed all over the world. However that does not seem to mean anything to you, and in one review you have reduced a lifes work to that of a babling idiot. You have accused Steve Danzig- Founder/Director IDAA, Director Australian Digital Art Association,Board Member Digital Academy University of North Carolina Pembroke who edited and mixed the DVD of being a hack, and you have said that even the music was bad, which is most certainly an insult to the 14 worldwide Artists that contributed their efforts to this project including Big Daddy G., who has music credits longer than my arm and General Degree who is a major Jamaican Artist who has toured here in Puerto Rico. I have nothing to do with Gartel, but we all must have seen a different DVD than you. I was unable to find Mr. Gartel's email on his website, If anyone has Mr. Gartel's email, can they please post it, so Eghy can contact Mr. Gartel directly. I am going to try to get his email and forward Mr. Gartel your review Eghy. Maybe if you have enough guts you will go to his website, and try to contact him yourself, and then report back to us all. As for the DVD, I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I thought it was alittle too intense for my kids. Everything I buy, I always worry about my kids watching it, and this is definitely not for kids. I had never seen images like this, but maybe here in Puerto Rico we are not as sophisticated as you folks in South Africa. If you were looking for a reaction Eghy, you certainly succeeded . I always thought that Art was supposed to create a strong emotion. It definitely created a strong emotion in you a very bad emotion, but an emotion just the same. I guess people will just have to judge for themselves, I am sure there will be people who like it, dislike it, watch it once, watch it many times, save it, or use it as a frisbee, however that is what Art is Eghy. It is just sad that a Mom from Puerto Rico needs to tell you this. For all of you reading this review, or any of the other reviews including Eghy's. RESEARCH MR. GARTEL, AND LISTEN TO SAMPLES OF ALL THE SONGS YOURSELF AS WELL AS WATCH SAMPLES OF A COUPLE OF THE MINI MOVIES YOURSELF BEFORE YOU BUY. I GUARANTEE THAT WHAT YOU HEAR AND WHAT YOU SEE, IS WHAT YOU GET. MAYBE ALITTLE MORE , BUT CERTAINLY NOT LESS!

Gartel is Truly "The Father of Digital Media",
By slamminrythms "slamminrythms" (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gartel- Trance, Dance and Other Living Things Vol. 1 (DVD)
After reading the heart felt review (almost an appeal) from Mediamanic, I bought the DVD. It was truly great. I have literally watched it 10 times, and still see new visuals each time. It did not make me dizzy, but my wife felt the visuals were too intense for her tastes (I of course disagree). This is cutting edge visuals from Laurence Gartel, and all the music is original tunes selected specifically for this project. The best known musical guest is General Degree, but throughout the DVD the music supports the visuals, the visuals do not support the music. The surround sound effects add to the experience, but Gartel was very clever to keep the ball on the visuals, and unlike most other multi media presentations, the music does not distract from this. Well worth the money, and for those of you that are collectors, this DVD will be worth some money one of these days. This DVD is a must for fans and supporters of Laurence Gartel, so consider the purchase an entertaining way to support the arts!

The Reviews Do Not Matter!,
By Jamal (Inglewood, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gartel- Trance, Dance and Other Living Things Vol. 1 (DVD)
Laurence Gartel is the Father of Digital Media. He started the whole darn thing. So if you are into art, and multi media, it is worth having if for no other reason, that you will have something from Gartel. There is no good or bad in Art, there are only points of view. Gartel has done something no one else has tried, has set the standard, which others will build and improve upon. Unless you have an open mind, and enjoy innovation, do not buy this product, you will be disappointed. This is not Star Wars, this is Gartel!

Loved The Music with the Visuals,
This review is from: Gartel- Trance, Dance and Other Living Things Vol. 1 (DVD)
I am always on the prowl for new things. The Gartel DVD was valiant effort by the "self proclaimed" Father of Digital Media. I appreciated the effort, I appreciated the art, I appreciated the surround sound, etc. However, I expected more from Gartel based on his reputation. The effort was most certainly "cutting edge" but Gartels images were dated. I have read articles about Gartel, and I have visited his website. While I realize that all great Artists must be self promoting, Gartel seems to be a bit "full of himself." The DVD is definitely worth the price, and it is a cheap way to have something from Gartel in your library, but I am afraid that the cutting edge technology parade has passed Gartel by. They put some very hip tunes to his visuals, which is most certainly a bonus, but I expected a bit more from Gartel as an Artist. I gave it a 4 for the effort, but I would call Gartel the "Grandfather of Digital Media", not the "Father." Perhaps in a future DVD he will be able to take things to a higher level, but this was a good start, at least for him.

I Read All The Reviews,

I can try to describe the DVD, but unless you are into multi media, and familiar with Laurence Gartel, words will not be helpful. Simply go to http://www.gartelraveparty.com and you can see some samples and hear all the songs. If you like what you see and hear, then buy it. I liked what I saw and heard, and thought it was worth the money. When someone tries something new, there will always be critics, but someone needs to start the ball rolling, and Gartel has most certainly done this.

Took a Chance and Glad I Did,
By musiclover (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gartel- Trance, Dance and Other Living Things Vol. 1 (DVD)
I had never heard of Laurence Gartel, so buying this DVD was a risk. It was fantastic! The surround sound was great, and the multi-media images were beyond my expectations. Some of the images are very intense, so I would not recommend it for children under 13 years of age, but other than that, it is a definite buy recommendation. Gartel reminds me alot of a Digital Andy Warhol, which I am sure others have compared him to. When I surfed the web for Gartel, I discovered that he is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian, he is the Absolut Gartel Artist, and he is the "Father of Digita Media." This DVD is well worth the purchase price if you are into cutting edge visuals and sound.

Sweeeeeet,

When I saw the Paul Van Dyk and Gartel DVD offered together, I obviously knew who Van Dyk was (love his music), but had never heard of Gartel. When I checked the reviews of fellow Amazoners (and I did not think they would have any reason to steer me wrong), I bought the package. Gartel is slammin, the sound, the visual, the presentation. It made me want to go get a drink, and I do not drink. Images fly by so fast, I needed to play it in slow motion to see the bad, very very bad Gartel invisionment of life. This dude has some serious issues, but I loved it.
