5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent performance, slightly imperfect fit, March 9, 2007

This is the best mobile diffusion system I've ever used. The size is a bit cumbersome and a bit intimidating to subjects, but it fills your scene with even and smooth light. Also, because the diffuser is omni-directional, what reflected light that comes off the back and sides adds a bit of fill flash to what you're shooting. I often shoot with the dome in place to avoid shadows on faces from ceiling reflection, but if you're shooting under high ceilings, you can maximize your light output by removing the dome. The only problem that I've encountered is that the soft plastic diffuser is hard to fit onto my SL-580EX but once it's on, it tends to stretch out a little bit and fall of during brisk pivots. If you have the same problem and you'll be shooting with the diffuser for a while, you just secure it with a small piece of tape.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made me look like a pro, October 17, 2007

I received my clear Lightshpere on Friday and was scheduled to shoot wedding pictures for a friend on Sunday. I watched the DVD that comes with the Lightsphere on Saturday afternoon and in 10 minutes I was ready to shoot those difficult shots like a pro.
The newlyweds wanted me to shot some pictures of them at the local lake front park, which meant shooting against a very bright background. The tips I got from the Gary Fong's DVD made it so easy to get great photos.
The Lightsphere lives up to it's claim of giving you studio quality lighting on the fly. If you do any kind of serious photography this item is a must for your gadget bag.

3.0 out of 5 stars It works sometimes, May 12, 2007

When the conditions are fovourable, it works as described. Too bad, you do not have those conditions all the time. It takes a lot of light, so your flash will go full tilt all the time. Plus I had times when I had to take it off because it did not iluminate the scene.
If you do events try to get the cloud with orange cap. It will match the incandescent lights in the ball room.
