I became aware of Gary Gulman through the HBO documentary "Tourgasm", which followed 4 comics on their comedy tour. I was quite excited with this opportunity to see more of his routine.

I enjoyed the DVD, but a few things are really obvious about Gary. First of all, he is OBSESSED with food jokes. He goes from fig newtons to figgy pudding to sugar cookies to, well, every OTHER kind of cookie (including the fortune cookie), fruit salad, grapefruit, and so on. They are all funny, but after a while it gets a little excessive.

Gary also focuses on his parents, his Jewish upbringing, and his childhood. I find these jokes to be even funnier. At one point, Gary makes fun of his art teacher, who locked up the safety scissors ("Do you remember those scissors? They couldn't cut JELLO") but left the giant paper cutter out within reach which was capable of "beheading a cow".

When you get the DVD, you will see on the back that it lists the length of the DVD at 1 hour and 35 minutes. I'm not quite sure why it says that, since the main feature is just shy of an hour and even if you include the deleted scenes you haven't even reached 1 hour 10 minutes. This is the only technical complaint I have with the DVD. The menus look poorly done but even the big name comedians tend to have rather pathetic looking DVDs.

While the DVD starts off slowly I thought, it picks up very quickly and is one of the funniest acts I've seen in a long time. Awesome. Highly recommended. A lot of food jokes. But each one is great.

Not sure why, but there are "deleted scenes"... one of them which may be the funniest bit on the DVD.

Gary Gulman is laugh out loud funny. I laughed so hard I could hardly catch my breath. A must-have dvd for anyone who likes a good, hard laugh.

I've seen him live, and this seems to be a collection of his worst jokes. Maybe it's older than I thought, and he's more refined now...I don't know the reason, but if I was him, I'm stop the continued publishing of this dvd as i don't feel it's on the same level as his contemporaries, or even his regular shows. This one's getting tossed out cuz it's definately not worth seeing twice.

I first saw Gary Gulman on Last Comic Standing and he was hilarious on it so it led me to find out more by him. I bought the CD "Conversations with Inanimate Objects" and laughed my butt off the whole way through. I highly highly recommend the CD! So after that I sought out "Boyish Man", expecting to to be laughing the entire time again, only to be dissapointed. Half of the jokes are reused from his CD, and the other half weren't very funny. I laughed very little and sold this immediately after watching it. Do yourself a favor and buy his CD "Conversations with Inanimate Objects" and skip this. If you're really adamant about watching a comedy show as opposed to just listening to it, then fine. This DVD isn't terrible by any means but when half of the jokes are identical to the ones on his previously released CD, it loses its value. Gary Gulman, from what I've seen, is a very funny man and I really wish he would make more CDs or DVDs.

This is much, much original and clever material than the usual sex/drugs/booze stuff most young comics rely on. It is very funny and will have you trying to remember some of the routines to tell your friends. It is excellent observational humor in the Seinfeld/Gaffigan mode.

My Movie came swiftly and on time and when I popped it in it had me in stitches. This is sure to have you laughing for days. It's worth each cent!!!

I've watched this a couple of times. This guy is classic. I'm surprised he's not more well known. His jokes are really funny the first time but tend to get sort of stale, as I've seen him on a few different shows and he uses EXACTLY the same jokes!

I'm glad I bought this DVD, Gary Gullman is hilarious!! I totally thought that his comedy career would take off after Last Comic (he was my favorite that season), but unfortunately I haven't seem much of him since. I hope he gets his head back in the comedy game and comes out with more of these!

This is a classic. We watch it a few times a year in our household. Definatelty a must around holiday times.
