5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Blues From Ireland (Oops, Switzerland) December 22, 2010
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Let me start by saying that I have absolutely NO idea why Gary Moore has not "caught on" in the US as he is a True (& One Of The Few) Blues Guitar Masters. He is immensely popular in Europe & SHOULD be here as well (for those of you that don't know, he used to be in Thin Lizzy). I can't believe this collection hasn't been reviewed by now either. At any rate, the performances, editing & sound (both DTS & Dolby Digital) are all top notch (considering the 1st show is now 20 years old). I had very high expectations for this set & they were way, way surpassed! You get the 2 DVD's with parts of all Gary's MJF shows from 1990-2001. Plus you get a "bonus" CD as well (which is over an hour long). I'm not even gonna go into individual song reviews, they all are great! Don't think about it or procrastinate, just get it - you'll be Very Happy that you did! It's Pure Unabridged Fender / Gibson Heaven!!! Wake Up North America!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonder-Full Tribute to One of the Best Ever !!! February 6, 2011
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Today, Gary Moore has moved on to Guitar Heaven where his soul belongs after an inspiring career of performing some of the finest rock 'n' blues guitar EVER...
this collection is a wonder-full tribute to his immense 'n' intense gifts of guitaristic expression in his Montreux shows from 1990-2001 on 2 DVDs w/ a compilation CD...
it helps me mourn his passing to watch these performances & enjoy his incredible SOUL as he burns [mostly thru 'da Blues] in these shows...
if you want more Moore for your collection- this is a great place to start !

5.0 out of 5 stars God bless Gary Moore R.I.P! February 18, 2011
ANYTHING Gary More is Classic! Just wanted to say I've enjoyed listening to Gary Moore from the Thin Lizzy days, through his solo days, great live performer, great guy! Mostly under the manstream radar, but the mainstream often ends up stale anyway, so it's been nice to have him consistently put out great stuff and never stale...I often pull out Thin Lizzy or his solo stuff and never tire of it...always fresh-Total brilliance! I was fortunate to have seen him live and still like plugging in my strat and playing the intro to 'End of the World'...lost many of sleep staying up, learning his solos and Van Halen, etc. It's another shock to the music world to lose one of the most beloved rock & blues guitarist! Found dead at 58 on Feb. 6 at a hotel in Spain while on vacation. Thanks for the inspiration brotha- R.I.P.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary will be missed like all the other GREAT ONES! March 2, 2011
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Gary Moore was certainly one the great guitarist that is among the few one-of-a-kind talents worthy of mention with the likes of Hendrix, Clapton, Stevie Ray, Jeff Beck, etc. I own and have viewed the other Gary Moore Live at Montreux 1990 numerous times and am always blown away by his execution of hitting those additional lead notes that sets the great ones aside from the mediocre.

Gary is one of the few artists that is equally as powerful and amazing live as what comes through in his studio recordings. Now that Gary is gone, any video of his work should be sought after for years to come as I believe his playing should be considered legendary. This DVD/CD set fills in the gaps quite well from others available.

If you are already a fan of Gary Moore or just into great guitarists like myself, this DVD/CD set is a must and I'm sure it will be one of the DVD's you will find yourself pulling off the shelve regularly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't think about it! Buy it while you can!! March 18, 2009
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I have been a Gary Moore fan since 1990 (I was late getting on board), and I have had 19 years of enjoyment from his music. This DVD set has not been officially released in the U.S., so I had been bugging the label about a release here. I finally decided to buy any version I could get, and I am glad I did. Five different years are represented here, and all are amazing performances. The sound is awesome throughout, and before someone buys this and complains about a bit of noise in a couple of the years, Gary's guitar does have some noise when he is not playing. I am sure that is because of settings he needs to get the tone he needs. Don't let the few seconds here and there discourage you from buying this. He is without a doubt, one of the most sincere and pure guitarists out there. He can say what he wants with one note, or a flurry of notes that are just not played for flash, but with passion. Gary is brilliant!
I have only found one thing I am disappointed in, and that is that the show from 1997 lacks some of the best songs from the tour. While it is a matter of personal taste, the DARK DAYS IN PARADISE tour is my favorite, and a few of the better songs such as LIKE ANGELS were omitted. There must have been good reasons by the company, but it is a lost to me personally. However, the inclusion of BUSINESS AS USUAL more than makes up for it!
If you don't know who Gary is, this is a way to get to know this master writer, singer and guitarist. If you do know his music, you probably already rushed to get this! Well worth every penny!!!!
