4.0 out of 5 stars Actually, sort of surprised
I haven't been impressed with Gary's books as of late. I completely agree with a couple of the reviewers who claim Gary's books are just recycled material, over and over again. I couldn't agree more.... until this book.

I have to say, I got A LOT out of this book, that I hadn't in some of his other books. There are plenty of new ideas presented in this book,...

This book is pretty good if you haven't read any other books by Null. If you have, I would forget about it. Mainly because he doesn't really bring anything new to the table. The only difference between Power Aging and his previous books are in the way the information is arranged. Other than that, it is basically recycled material. Good for a new reader but almost a waste of time for people who have read something published by Null in the past.

I haven't been impressed with Gary's books as of late. I completely agree with a couple of the reviewers who claim Gary's books are just recycled material, over and over again. I couldn't agree more.... until this book.

I have to say, I got A LOT out of this book, that I hadn't in some of his other books. There are plenty of new ideas presented in this book, and I also like the format of this book. His writing style is much more fluent in this book than in books of the past. Also, his message is as clear as ever. In addition, this is one of the first books that I've read of Gary's, where he recommends eating fish. I believe in early 2000 or so, is when he started promoting fish, after 20+ years of promoting a vegan diet. But I hadn't seen it in print until this book.

All in all, I think this is Gary's best book yet. I'm still kind of surprised with some of the reviews on here. Maybe they didn't actually read the book; it was more of a skim through.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing New, March 9, 2007
Unlike books by some anti-aging practitioners who seem to publish in order to advertise their HRT programs, Gary Null's agenda is not so obvious. He claims that his book is different from the rest, but that's only because he has included a bit more information on environmental factors and their effects on aging at the beginning. Hence, he recommendations safe and organic food sources.

Apart from that, I see nothing new. The same old glossary of supplements, the same old recipes that no one has time to prepare and recommendations on exercise which only show that the author is far from an expert in this area.

However, I'm surprised that the author actually gave "natural" alternatives to hormone replacement. I'm not sure if the supplements really work, but at least he's not pushing HRT and making light of potential side effects even in expert hands.

Not a fantastic book but still quite informative for those who haven't already read a hundred books on anti-aging.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly Whats Needed, June 14, 2004
By A Customer
'Power Aging' presents clear, ready-to-use facts.

What I have found about anything that Dr. Gary Null writes is that it always gets right to the heart of what you need to know, to learn, and to understand, but its always written in an engaging, clear, lay-level, and respectful way. So you really get the message as a reader that this author has your health and wellbeing at heart, kind of like a 'nutritional best friend', guiding us through with a roadmap on our road to wellness. Not only that, but he is also careful to present to the reader all the facts you'd need to know that would break down those popular misconceptions that we are exposed to about such modern dietary hazards as sugar, that we'd otherwise take for granted.

'Power Aging' is no exception. Its a solid book, loaded with facts and details, with easy step-by-step advice. And given the importance of its information the book is exceptional value for money. I am an average layperson in nutrition, but reading 'Power Aging' I have come away with a far greater comprehension of exactly what is necessary to keep my body rejuvenated than with anything else I've picked up and read. I strongly recommend this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars The same ole' thing!, May 12, 2004
By A Customer
I had heard alot of 'buzz" about the book before it came out and was very excited and anxious to pick it up; anticipating learning something new that I could implement. I found that a significant amount of the text in this book overlapped or repeated information contained in other Null publications. The book touts that it gives you a step by step approach to anti-aging YET throughout the text I could not find one. Redundant and disappointing..

1.0 out of 5 stars Recycling Personified, October 15, 2006
If you've read one Gary Null book, you've read them all. He is no doubt highly knowledgeable and dedicated to his subject, but when I buy two books with different titles by Gary Null and find they are the same, I'm pretty annoyed. His early books were taken directly from Herbert Sheldon's Natural Hygience material, which I assume must not have been copyrighted, and I felt ripped off then, in the 70's as I did recently when Amazon was good enough to give me a refund for one of the books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Null's Power Aging, December 18, 2003
By A Customer
In Gary Null's Power Aging, I learned that what I put into my body on a daily basis has been responsible for the disease milieu which caused my chronic sinusitis, allergies, and general discomfort with my life. Since I cleaned up my diet, I feel now that I can enter middle age with a sense of confidence, knowing that I will not be as prone to the diseases associated with aging, such as cancer and heart disease, to name a few.

I've learned that enhancing my diet with fresh vegetable juices and supplementation has improved the nutritional environment with which my body's cells can draw to make the hormonal adjustments and cellular repairs it needs to create a state of health again.

Since changing the way I look at nutrition, I am also now able to change the way I look at other choices in my life; I no longer need to make unbalanced choices in order to fill the need to 'fit in'. I no longer feel as rushed, as if I'm trying to run to the next moment in my life. I am more able to enjoy each moment as it arises.

1.0 out of 5 stars after reading the reviews..........., June 15, 2004
By A Customer
Since being a member of one of Gary's health support groups and following his program to the letter, I like to stay in touch with what is new. I read the reviews and decided to buy the book and judge for myself. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything new or different that I could use to update my current lifestyle....what is his definition of "Power Aging" anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Live Longer with Gary Null, June 14, 2004
By A Customer
This is another excellent book from celebrated health and nutrition expert Gary Null. In this book, Dr. Null distills the latest research on diet, exercise and nutritional approaches to health. Based on scientific studies published in peer-reviewed journals, the information in this book will directly help readers to live longer, more vital lives. And Dr. Null has a terrific ability to simplify the jargon, and communicate the most recent scientific findings about diet and exercise in a no-nonsense and meaningful way. There is no mystery to living a healthier and more active life. Certainly, healthy eating habits, good nutrition, and regular exercise are important factors. Here, however, Null also explains that good nutrition means eliminating animal foods, caffeine, sugar, dairy, wheat, hormones and antibiotics from our diets. Also important, may be groundbreaking nutrients such as Co-enzyme Q10, Trimethylglicine (TMG), and S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe). Null describes the revolution in nutritional research, and demonstrates that there certainly are safe, effective, less expensive, and superior natural alternatives to man-made pharmaceuticals.

The book also deals specifically with alternative approaches to heart disease, cancer, the aging brain, and anti-aging in general. There is no reason for us to feel old or age prematurely. And with Gary Null's Power Aging, we can make proactive choices to stay active and youthful for longer periods than ever before. You will not want to miss out on the critically important information contained in this book from Gary Null.

Gary Null does it again --- This book is a keeper from start to finish -- I just can't put it down!!! This book is complete with information on what causes aging and disease and specific protocols for how to combat these effects. With specific prescriptions for exercise, diet, supplementation, mind/body and more, this book can help you to age beautifully, gracefully and with Power! Also, there are a ton of delicious vegetarian recipes included in this book as well -- I already tried three of them and they were awesome! I can't wait to try the rest!
