5.0 out of 5 stars Best nutrition guide of the year
Far and awawy the best published material on how to integrate a healthy diet into your life! I own this book and have found it to be one of the most informative and easy to use guides to give my body all that it needs to function at its best. As a health care professional I can assure you that everything Gary Null publishes in this book is well researched and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cook Book on how to prepare most nutrious foods
While I completely agree with the authors concept of the 15 most nutritious foods to eat, I am disappointed at there only being 26 pages of actual information on why they are the best. The rest of the book gives you 300 recipes (That sound delicious)that you can use to create a healthy diet. The book is written for vegans with no animal products in any of the recipes. The...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cook Book on how to prepare most nutrious foods, January 28, 2007
This review is from: Gary Null's Power Foods: The 15 Best Foods for Your Health (Hardcover)
The pictures in the middle of the book make the meals look great. In the back of the book you will find a 7 day eating plan.
The 15 power foods are almonds, oranges, bananas, blueberries, onions, garlic, ginger, legumes, carrots, peppers, shiitake mushrooms, tomatoes, leafy greens, soy, and whole grains.

I recommend buying this book as a cook book after reading Gary Null's other books or after reading "Super Foods RX" by Steven Pratt his book goes into far more detail about why these foods are the best, "Super Foods RX" was a life changing book for me. This one is a cook book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Power Foods by Dr. Gary Null PhD, August 31, 2007
This review is from: Gary Null's Power Foods: The 15 Best Foods for Your Health (Hardcover)
This is a perfect book for health enthusiasts everywhere. It contains
power foods , as well as sample recipes which implement the
preparation of the meals in the preferred mode. A strength of the presentation is that it is easy to read and emulate the health food preparations depicted. Sample power foods are:

o almonds
o oranges
o blueberries
o onion and garlic
o ginger
o legumes
o carrots
o whole wheat
o pepper
o Shiitake mushrooms
o tomato
o leafy greens
o soy

The book sets forth many easy-to-read food preparations for a large
constituency of readers; namely, heads of households, dieters,
nutritionists, physicians, athletes and food enthusiasts everywhere.

Sample food preparations are Lima Bean Seaweed Salad and Healthy Hijiki.
Each preparation is depicted with a picture and thorough description.
Soy is rich in protein. Oranges and blueberries have powerful
antioxidant properties. Ginger is a classic anti-inflammatory herb.
Additional information on the medicinal benefits which complement
health care planning may be obtained from listening to the Gary Null radio show.

The book is an excellent acquisition for the price charged.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing access to power, July 25, 2008
This review is from: Gary Null's Power Foods: The 15 Best Foods for Your Health (Hardcover)
Gary Null's Power Foods: The 15 Best Foods for Your Health
Am i looking at the same book the other reviewers were? The cover and title are the same but there is not one color photo or any other picture in the entire book.
I am completely frustrated in finding recipes. It has NO INDEX!!! If I want to find an entree that contains one of the power foods, I have to flip through 49 pages scanning the ingredients in the recipes on each page. "Beverages" are even worse, 109 pages to flip through!!! This is a complete waste of time for someone who "loves to eat, but hates to cook" the audience to whom the book is dedicated.
With so many books about healthy eating available, I would not waste my time with this one. The power foods are simplistic and out of date. It claims to contain recipes ranked by how many of the "15 power foods" each contains and yet there are numerous recipes that do not include ANY of the listed foods. Why bother?

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but expensive and a bit exotic, September 7, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a good book, especially the precursory information to the recipes that explains the what and why of the "power foods". The only problem I had with it is I'm not rich. Many of these recipes call for a lot of exotic and expensive ingredients that don't fit the budget for my eating plan. Overall, it was a good purchase as I did get some good info and there are a few recipes I can use. If you've got the dough, you'll get a lot more out of it. If not, it's still a pretty decent book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent way to eat, March 19, 2007
This review is from: Gary Null's Power Foods: The 15 Best Foods for Your Health (Hardcover)
This book has wonderful recipes that are not only nutritious but quite tasty. There is a cream of Berry Soup that looks really delicious. He also includes a section on 15 power foods which are loaded with antioxidants, which he describes. This is a great book for anyone who wants to know how to prepare raw food and vegan specialities.
