5.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Lifetime Diet
This book is so clear and concise. Itdiscusses potential problems and what to do about them. There has been a history of cancer in my family. There is down to earth information as to what foods are harmful and what are healthy foods. It certainly confirmed to me that it is important to change my diet.

Most of all, I'm fancinated by the "thirty day" diet...

1.0 out of 5 stars Longest bibliography in history
This is the first book I read where the bibliography is half the book. The information given in the book is rehashed from his other books. He is churning out books at a rate of 2 or 3 a year. I guess you can do that when every book has the same information. I like Gary. I have been to many of his lectures and was a member of a support group he had. Unfortunately...

Most of all, I'm fancinated by the "thirty day" diet plan along with the specific recepies that are given in the book. I've tried most of them and find them delicious and a terrific way to loose weight in a sensible way.

I highly recommend this book to everyone who is concerned about their health and want to take steps to be in charge of their life.

I take my hat off to another great book by Gary Null.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reality Check, July 11, 2000
Dr. Null explains in plain yet unobtrusive language why Americans are unhealthy. Approaching all levels, Dr. Null explains why and how to lose weight, strengthen your immune system and decrease your risk of common health problems from our modern diet. I became a vegan as a result of this book and realized the difficulty I faced in an urban society that capitalizes on processed foods. The pros outweigh the cons. Dr. Null promises you will feel more balanced and more cleansed from a vegan diet and it is true. In many ways, Dr. Null has explained a diet very similar to that of society before the dawn of convenient foods - bleached white flour, hydrogenated vegetable oil, white sugar, etc. Through expert sources, Null supports that our body does not have a natural "sensor" to these foods and therefore we do not feel full when eating junk foods until we have literally gorged on them. Dr. Null uses several case studies to support this and all of his theories throughout the book. I recommend this book and to not be overwhelmed by the "complex" nature of it. If you try a few of the steps at a time and integrate them into your lifestyle, you will sure to reap wonderful results.

2.0 out of 5 stars Overwhelmed, February 10, 2000
By A Customer
This book is filled with information, but Gary has made this book too sophisticated for the average lay person. This truly is for the person who has lots of time and desire to work at eating. I need to simplify my life not complicate it with specialty food items. I felt lost and overwhelmed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lost 15 pounds, March 16, 2000

The information in Gary's new book is so valuable. He not only explains what you need to eat in order to be healthy, but also gives recipes so that we can make the transition from an unhealthy diet to a healthy one easily. I look forward to his next book. Incidentally, I've lost 15 pounds since I began utilizing the information in the book and I DON'T count calories and I DON'T follow a strict, high protein regimen like some other people might suggest. I sleep better, have more energy, and my skin is RADIANT.

3.0 out of 5 stars Did anyone try out the recipes?, January 29, 2000
By A Customer
I found this book intriguing and supportive of my choice to follow a vegetarian lifestyle. But I tried several of the breakfast recipes and the measurements for ingredients were way off (example: Raspberry oat-soy-banana pancakes). Did anyone try these out? Also, the appendices, which take up a third of the book, added no particular value - vegetable photo chemicals?

This review is from: Gary Null's Ultimate Lifetime Diet: A Revolutionary All-Natural Program for Losing Weight and Building a Healthy Body (Paperback)
If this book could be distributed to everyone in America, we would no longer live in a morbidly obesce society. The information in this book is very easy to understand, for even someone who knows nothing about nutrition. The 'diet' isn't actually a diet. It's a lifestyle change, which will add fruitful years to anyone's life. While this book does focus on weight loss, it is not only for the overweight. It deals with getting the body back in balance, so you can maintain your normal weight.

2.0 out of 5 stars Only half of the ultimate lifetime diet, May 26, 2000
I bought this book expecting to receive a comprehensive 31-day plan complete with recipes. As I began to write out the recipes, it became apparent that nine of the lunch recipes were missing in the first week alone! Since the author does not respond to email at his website, I am stuck with a lot of expensive health food ingredients for breakfast and dinner, and no way of knowing what to do about lunch! It can also be very difficult to locate a lot of the ingredients, even if you can figure out what they are. I don't recommend this book for anyone serious about the specific diet plan because you will be disappointed. There are other points he makes about exercise and self-empowerment that are probably covered in many of his other books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Null's Ultimate Lifetime Diet, December 18, 2003
By A Customer
I've been a vegetarian for a little over a year, but sometimes I need a little support in order to make my diet palatable, interesting, and new. I can get tired of eating the same things over and over again, and I know that is not good for my immune system. The Ultimate lifetime Diet has great suggestions for keeping mealtimes fresh and appetizing.

In addition to helping me keep my meals interesting, The Ultimate Lifetime Diet helps me when I feel tempted to stray from eating what is good for me, and it is also helpful in deciphering what certain junk food cravings might mean for me. There is a helpful section that is just about self empowerment, where I can figure out how I might be using food as a sublimation tool; this is where I substitute food for other areas in my life that I might feel lack. This section of the book really helps me keep on track in my 'off' days, when I'd rather eat pizza and drink lots of coffee, than take the time to really eat right. The questionnaire really helps me hone down to what's bothering me emotionally, so that I can deal with issues directly, and not hurt myself with food.

Since I've been eating right, I've gone from about 167 lbs at my heaviest, to about 135 right now. This is much better for my 5'6" frame. I feel much lighter, more energetic, and much more positive about my life.

Although I could be in better physical shape, I felt so good this year that I was actually able to train for and complete the New York City marathon. I know that I could not have done this without my new attitude that came about as a result of feeling better about my life, and maintaining my vegetarian diet, which has given me an abundance of energy.

I look forward to maintaining my current state of health, and creating an even better body, with the help of The Ultimate Lifetime Diet.
