About the Author
Karen Grassmuck Kraushaar is an award-winning writer and editor whose news, columns and feature stories have appeared in hundreds of newspapers and magazines including The Washington Post, The Boston Globe and The Chronicle of Higher Education. Formerly an Ann Arbor News reporter, Kraushaar has also worked in publishing and in public relations. She holds a bachelor's degree from Brown University and a master's in journalism from the University of Michigan. An Ann Arbor native, she currently makes her home with Kevin and two golden retrievers, outside Washington, D.C.
Photographer - Doris Kays Krashaar, after twenty years of teaching music in the public schools of Michigan, has a career as a free-lance photographer. She has photographed every corner of Ann Arbor for a recent publication: Vibrant Ann Arbor-A Color Portrait, now in it's second printing. Other photos have appeared in brochures, newspapers, AAA magazine, websites, and on the covers of Hotel Guest Guides, Universal phone books, various directories, and Ann Arbor Visitor's Guide. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, and a master's degree from Eastern Michigan University. She is Karen's Mother-in-law.
