I liked the book well enough but I can't say it really captured me that much. The writting technique was very good and the story seemed pretty strong but I felt that it could have been much better. The relationship between Michael and Evelyn seemed very sweet and I loved Wind as a character. Overall I would recommend this book to those having fascination with the supernatural and craving for romance mixed with action

I had a hard time staying INTERESTED in this book, after 4 chapters I quit reading it because it seemed like it was the same over & over again.

I have just started this story. In print terms I guess I am only a few pages into the story, but already I feel the forced writing, the awkwardness behind the prose and I wonder if this is to be yet another book I have to force myself to finish. I'm giving it a 3 star rating in the hopes that something will get better before long.

The Gate of Lake Forest, YA Elf Romance (Guardians of the Gate Book #1)

Michael Cole, A Seventeen Year Old Senior At Green Mountains Falls In Colorado Was Instantly Attracted To The New Girl, Although He Couldn't Say Why But Some Thing About Evelyn Intrigued Him As No Other Girl Had Done. They Became Fast Friends As The Year Went On And He Avoided His Soccer Pals And Stopped Doing His Homework To Spend As Much Time As He Could To Spend Time With Evelyn. One Day, He Saw Her Head Into The Forest And He Quietly Followed Her Only To Watch Her Open A Portal From Thin Air And As She Went Through, He Followed Her And Saw Another World With Strange Trees And Blue People! Evelyn Caught Him Standing There With His Mouth Open And Took Him Back Through The Gate Portal And Said She Would Explain All Later.

Evelyn Explained That She Was A Five Hundred Year Old Elfin But Was Seventeen Years Old In Human Years, That She Stayed In The Human World As Long As She Could To Learn About Humans Until She Had To Replenish Her Body In The Emerald Lake, That She Was A Guardian Of The Gate So Humans Couldn't Accidentally Get Through The Gate Into Her World Called Emerlusia. Before Long When Michael Kept Returning Through The Gate, Dark Wolves Picked Up His Scent And Found The Gate To The Human World And Some Made It Through. Evelyn Was A Peaceful Elfin And Only Had A Little Training To Track And Killed The Wolves Before They Killed The Humans, Then The Situation Got Worse As More Humans Died And She Had To Spend Half Her Time To Guard The Gate, And Half To Protect Michael.
