Emma Franklin inherits a farm in the town of MacKinlay, once called "Nowhere" by the Cherokee. When she steps through a rusty iron gate on her new property, she is transported back 177 years to Nowhere. There she meets and falls in love with the town's eventual namesake, Gavin MacKinlay. She needs to save Gavin from certain death at the hand of his twin brother while solving the mystery of why the townspeople in 2004 hate anything connected to the MacKinlay name. Through her, history is changed, but not without heartache and danger. Although she returns to her life in 2004, she longs to be back with Gavin in 1827.
Leanna has written and illustrated stories since she was a little girl. In college she turned more toward the art end of the spectrum with a major in commercial art, but she kept her love of writing alive with an English minor.
In 1985, she married her best friend, Randy, and the years 1989 and 1992 added two sons to the family.
In addition to getting an occasional commission for one of her portrait paintings, she co-owns Barewood Furniture and Heartland Amish Furniture with her husband.
She and her family live on Miracle Hill Farm right in the middle of five acres of the most beautiful mountain property in western North Carolina. They share the farm with a herd of Nubian goats and a flock of chickens. Her hobbies include tending her vegetable, herb, and flower gardens, reading, quilting, crocheting, sewing and the list goes on....
She's awaiting the release of her third book in the Gate to Nowhere series and readying two other novels for publication.
