This review is from: Gatecrasher: Christopher Lawrence Live in Moscow (Audio CD)
Anyone who has heard Lawrence's Subculture Vol. 1 would be anticipating anything else this man does next. Thus it is a surprise that instead of Vol.2 , Gatecrasher brings us Lawrence live in Moscow showing that even outside of his to-die-for sequel to Subculture he can create a dance energy that vibrates as good as any Van Dyk thumper with the kinda of mixing skills expected from the quality of Schulz.
Like the Thrillseekers, Lawrence seems to have the best selection of original beats and in this way commands respect when we hear something that is new and good that should put pressure on the like of Van Buuren to compete with. Lawrence is as ravy and hardcore as trance can get these days. For those who object to their trance having too much vocals then Lawrence is your DJ. I would recommend this pulsating vision of dance in a heartbeat. Lawrence is clearly confident in being able to take his sounds to the cream of the lot and possibly even outdoing many of them with this double dose of ruthless tunes.

"Christopher Lawrence has single-handedly redefined the West Coast sound".,

If you want to listen to a live mix to date from Christopher Lawrence without having to step your foot out of your bed, this CD is as live as it can be. This sleek techno trance DJ always figured out new underground sound that illustrate how the West Coast sound should be. If you love the Sub-Culture CD as much as me, in my opinion this is the "Sub" continuation but instead it's "live". With CL and John 00 Fleming produced together a flawless track and a Nicholas Bennison remix, that is "Beyond The Limit". Pulsing bassline and unchained melodies from "Solar Flare" give me the same feeling and energy just like Traffic from Tiesto back in the days. This is a 5 stars Live Mix CD for anyone who are a fan of CL and a fan of Gatecrasher.

First if you haven't heard " Christopher Lawrence - Subculture Vol. 1 ". Do yourself the favor & get it now! & if you have heard it, you know somewhat what to expect from this double disc album.
Disc One : is pretty Luke-Warm with the exceptions of , spittin fire ; tracks #6 & #8. LOVE #6, it's pretty roller coastery. The other tracks are alittle milder than those specific two. Not to say that Disc One is bad just offers, darker versions of this mindbending " Genre " changing/making kind of music. Good "Theme" tracks are in the mix. By the way BOTH Discs are MIXED SUPERBLEY " Transitioning" is flawless. Disc Two : Is the REASON I Pre-Ordered this Double Disc Set. ( By the way both are Keeepers ). The Energy REALLY Picks Up & Thumps for ALL of the Albums length here. It has peaks and valleys " the valleys and peaks are VERY UNIQUE ". Some are dramatic build ups & others end and flip to something else & then come full circle within itself. ( You have to Here how he put this together yourself to understand ). I think that you will feel that Disc Two is the Main Room Mix & worth ponying up $ for alone! Yes, It's MOS "Ministry of Sound" but this is Very Fresh & Underground! Not their usual. It is a creature that owns itself " Especially if you live outside the TechTrance world of Isreal ). Where I belive he got the inspiration for the Unique sound. You will NOT hear anything like this in America Right now, except from the American DJ that is Christopher Lawrence! If you do not like this style/sound/genre of Trance... Than your taste buds must be on something to the tune of " Eddie Halliwell's - Cream Ibiza Disc Two " which I too love & adore & own. I personally love both this Gatcrasher Live in Moscow Album & Chris' - Subculture Vol. 1. too though! It's something fresh & with some choice UNDERGROUND tracks for your listening Pleasure!

This was an excellent set! Both discs are solid, really no intros, he just gets down to business. Sound quality is superb. Anyone normally leary of buying released material, and rightfully so, will not ne disappointed with this album. The only complaint I have is that it was not 3 or 4 discs. Defintely buy this album!
