5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, Gatecrasher Retakes its Throne, April 30, 2002
By A Customer
Gatecrasher seems to have set some sort of amazing standard with the release of Wet, three years ago. The followup albums were equally as good. National Anthems, in my opinion, was the last of the greats. To this day, I still listen to it sometimes.

Discotech Generation turned the compilation series in a more progressive direction, and the two albums after it did the same. The moving, emotional trance that we alll loved vanished, leaving in the wake those harder and more progressive beats that the club was trying to promote. Many people lost faith in the series, myself included.

Digital Trance changes everything.

It starts off with the sounds of Jamnesia - She's My Friend, and never looks back. Flawlessly mixed, perfectly arranged, and literally euphoric, this double-cd album lives up to all of Gatecrasher's standards, and cleans the slate for those who didn't like the last two albums.

Doing what they do best, this cd shows that Gatecrasher isn't neccessarily about the newest commercial trance that you would find on the Ministry of Sound compilations, but about the best trance available today.

Returning to its Roots of melodic trance with a just hint of progressive/hard influence, this cd should have something for everybody, or everything for somebody. :)

Trance fans can be sure that this is worth the thirty or fourty dollars you'll spend on it.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Forget Analog,Crasher' Serves It Up Digital", April 30, 2002

The self described "Champions of Trance" return to unleash their laser spitting lion rampant on the chemical generation.Like it proggy, pumpin'or hard as nails hands in the air;Crashers got you coverd on this one.No boring chillout discs;strictly a double disc compilation of all kill,no fill anthems that definatley does the business.
Disc one jump kicks you with lizard man Picotto and his Verdi mix of "Pulsar" and the intense "No Return" by Solar Factor, before winding you up to Minimalistix mix of The Traveller in Motion's "Believe".Visions of Yawa provide the euphoric closure with "Tibet".
Disc two is where things get Hard & Dirty. The Mystery with their excellent tune "Devotion"sets the stage for a blinder of tune courtesy of Green Martian "End of the Earth" which sounds alot like "Industry" but bigger.Commitment to quality in the track selection builds us nicley to the monster remix of Art Of Trance's classic hit "Madagascar"by Push;huge. It's all systems go with strength to strength tunes like "Expander" by Marc Dawn and "No Sleep" from Mikado.Always the strongest finishers, crasher'close the set with the awesome "Altitude" by Altitude.A true reflection of the Superclubs'main room sound is what you'll get on DT not a hint of cheese.A revolutionary compilation no,but a pre-summer warm up to get you boshing like a crasher kid yes.
4 out of 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite of 6 Gatecrashers I own, June 20, 2003
By
I'd have to say this is my favorite of all six Gatecrasher titles I own. When people tell me they like dance but they never know what to buy, I loan them this and they always want more. Christopher Lawrence (any of them) is another excellent DJ. His out of print stuff, as well as rare Gatecrasher can be found through the amazon.com used sellers...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best trance in a while, May 20, 2002
It seems with this nationwide movement towards Progressive techno and hard house, the trance genre has been abandoned for a while. Not anymore. While Disc 1 is a good uptempo progressive delicacy, Disc 2 is a wonderful, self-serving re-introduction to the world of trance. Regardless of those who will try to devalue the art of trance, those of us who like it need not make any excuses. This is great music, covering a true range of talents. You like soft voices? It's here. You like driving beats? It's here. You like smooth synth with head crushing breaks? It's here.

Gatecrashers have good music out there, and I found this CD to be above par. My favorite song out of the whole thing was solar factor-'no return'. That had to be the best, nothing else!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally - some decent trance., October 2, 2002
By
Tony R. (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews
First off, let me say that whoever submitted reviews about a 3 disc set is on the wrong page. Gatecrasher Experience is the 3 disc cd (the 3rd being a chillout cd). Digital Trance is a 2 disc set.

And quite a set it is. I've only had a few days with the album, but I can echo several other reviewers in that finally Gatecrasher has returned to what they became famous for: melodic trance. All that progressive stuff of the last few cds is gone. Something I'm quite happy about. A little of it finds its way into the first cd, but there are still quite a few room-filling tracks that'll please.

The second cd gets even more melodic and has more builds and crashes. More so, dare I say, than any Gatecrasher cd from the past. I didn't give the album 5 stars only because I think (and I'm sure several of you will gasp when I say this) that the trance well is beginning to run dry. The music is great on this cd, but it's not anything we haven't heard before. Different compostions, different chords - but more of the same. That said, trance is not over by any means. And this cd is one of the great ones.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, May 10, 2002
By A Customer
Great 3 disc set for a night of fantastic dancing, meltdowns, and chilling out.
The first CD is the dancefloor compilation, definitely suits it's title. Harder beats than the last two, gets the party started. The songs are choosen to help get us trancers into the beats and even get out our glowsticks and start rolling with the percussion and rythm!
The second CD is the Meltdown and it does just that. It's mid stream beats and hypnotic chorus, along with bass kicking in at times and mellow beats at other times. It's got a very nice mixing and fading done on this one.
The third and last CD is the Chill Out and it's for after partying and trancing for a few hours, this one takes you down and mellows every out for the night. Nice mixing and fading as well as mellow beats and bass. It's hypnotic but in the chill out, bring it down a bit, kind of way.

I highly recommend this for anyone who loves to be DJ for parties or for social gatherings at your house. Also make sure you've got the sound system for this set, the first CD is made to be played loud!! Second and Third CDs can be listened to in any stereo system, but the first one NEEDS to be turned up and blasting! Second and Third CD can be blasted or run at medium volumes for pure enjoyment. :o) Enjoy!
