5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Individual compilation of the resident DJs
I own all of the gatecrasher series..Black, red, wet, dico-tech, GSS, Digital, digital-trance, etc. Before this I would have to say that disco-tech WAS my favorite for its ability to offer great build-ups from melodic trance, the thundering chorals which made it feel like you were in a superclub, and that cd's overall ability to lift you up, charge you, and put you in a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but there are far better compilations out there
This album includes three CDs, but frankly I'd rather buy 1 or 2CD compilations such as PVD - Politics of Dancing or Tiesto - Magik 5,6 or Nyana for the same price and get a far more exciting album.

This album has a few really amazing tracks such as Plastic Boy - Silverbath, but for the most part it's pretty boring.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Individual compilation of the resident DJs, December 10, 2002

I own all of the gatecrasher series..Black, red, wet, dico-tech, GSS, Digital, digital-trance, etc. Before this I would have to say that disco-tech WAS my favorite for its ability to offer great build-ups from melodic trance, the thundering chorals which made it feel like you were in a superclub, and that cd's overall ability to lift you up, charge you, and put you in a trance state all at the same time.
Mind you, the entire gatecrasher series is excellent each for being able to take you on a journey from track 1 to track Heaven.
All that has changed now...The residents-transmission cds put you on a journey that makes the others pale in comparison!
There are 3 individual compilations: 1-Scott Bond, 2-Matt Hardwick, 3-Eddie Halliwell.
Each are unique in their trance path to heaven.
CD1 is very trademark Scott Bond I saw at Limelight. This cd plays very anthem type buildup non-vocal tunes. As like most of the cds he's done, he slowly build you up to a hard pounding trance explosion in the end. Very UK-club like.
CD3 is most reminiscent of the hard-house trance mix you find here in NYC when the European DJs come over to play. Eddie has unique Hard House-Trance style that must be heard.
CD2 is what makes this compilation a 5 star! Matt Hardwick is an incredible cross of the UK style Gatecrasher we know crossed with a German influence like PVD. This CD2 reminds me of those awesome clubbing experiences in the OLD days of PVD at Twilo and more recently his resurgence back due to the Made events. You know how PVD cd's pale in comparison to seeing him Live? Well this cd is like seing him LIVE! This is not a PVD imitation, its much more and better than that. It must be heard to be believed. Good mix of trance/vocals/chorals/D&B - Just Everything!

If you only get one of the gatecrasher series get this one. I say these words cautiously because if you start with this one, the others will pale in comparison. It's kind of like starting off in a Ferrari Enzo without appreciating the other Ferrari's - the F40s, Testarossa, Mondial, F50, GTO etc. Because the other gatecrasher series is just that - other Ferraris. And to just dismiss them would not do them justice, since they are all truly incredible. And its a fine thing to say the entire gatecrasher series are like a collection of Ferraris - since we all know the Yugos, Fords, GMs, Hondas, BMWs of trance music that there is out there.
It's just that sometimes something comes out and it just blows everything else away.
Hello world, meet the Gatecrasher-Residents Transmission!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Instant Party....Just Add Volume !!!, February 18, 2003
By
This review is from: Gatecrasher Residents Transmission (Audio CD)
Holy cow....this 3 cd set from Gatecrasher is a mind blower !! If you are searching for a dance/party disc to add to your collection...or should I say to MAKE your collection....your search is over !! The song selection here is unparellelled...Bond, Hardwick and Halliwell have done their homework and found the most de-luscious, trance dancibles this planet has ever seen ! Here's the breakdown:

CD 1 - Scott Bond (My personal favorite) - This is a hard as nails, old school trance cd with the tracks sewn so perfectly together, Armani would be proud. The raw power and energy of this cd alone is worth the purchase. Songs like: "Sahara"; "Magik Impulse"; "Then They Start To Dance" and the king daddy of them all...."Drunk in Chicago".....yikes....you won't be able to find the floor because you will be plastered to the ceiling !! This is the full throttle power of standing in front of the speakers...angry, dark, dirty and delicious....you will dance until your feet hurt and then dance some more !

CD 2 - Matt Hardwick - This is the spiritual, progressive cd in the triad. The tunes are thoughtfully melded together to raise you up and let you soar. I like this one best when I'm sitting down so I can close my eyes and just fly....this is made for flying and gives your feet a rest while your mind goes into hyperspace !!

CD 3 - Eddie Halliwell - And after you've soured around the heavens....Mr. Halliwell commands you to get your booty back to the dance floor for another hard as nails set of dark club-style trance !! This cd is a masterful demonstration of what a great dj can do with the right music.....the song "Follow Me" sums it up best.....Halliwell is going to take you to the highest heights of the night.

Overall this 3 cd set welcomes back the glory days of hard clubstyle trance....and gives it a modern face-lift !! The sets progresses masterfully from cd 1 to cd 3....this is a perfect party in a pretty pink box.....actually its florescent pink so you can find it in the dark !! You'll want to invite all your friends over...turn off the the lights, kick on the strobes and crank up the volume until the knob breaks off !! This one will get you arrested for holding a rave in your house/flat/condo...whatever...but you'll be smiling the whole time !! Five lollie rating and all cherry at that !! This could be the best cd for 2003 and the year just started !!

5.0 out of 5 stars best one so far - exceeded expectations - quality trance, January 5, 2003

In my opinion this is the best of the Gatecrasher serious hands down. If you like the others you'll definitely like this one. This 3 CD set highly exceeded my expectations, especially for the price. I've always been impressed with the Gatecrasher series. When I first purchased Gatecrasher Red, Wet, and then Global Sound System I really didn't expect too much more than another mediocre mix of the latest trance thrown together under the big umbrella of the Gatecrasher name, such as you get with the Ministry of Sound or Euphoria type collections. Gatecrasher has always been a step up on the quality of the music and the quality of the mixing. They put you in the club - you feel like you're there with 10,000 people, as opposed to throwing together a chain of hits or anthems with virtually no regard for mixing and song order. This latest Gatecrasher does it even better. It's great to hear some new high quality trance tunes mixed with obvious effort. As you'de expect from Gatecrasher this isn't some "progressive" digweed style "seasoned-raver" proclaimed ingenious mix or anything but rather a very well done mix of high quality energetic trance - without the overly cheesy breakdowns, excessive use of vocals or lame simple melodies you may find in many other mixes in this genre. Just pop in the mix and let it go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spectacular, October 10, 2003

I was a little worried about buying this set b/c of the tone of some of the reviews, but I went ahead and did it and I regret nothing about it. This is a spectacular 3 CD set. The Bond CD is my fav, but the other 2 groove excellently as well. I would encourage anybody that likes trance to give this set a try. You won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars this set is alright, June 5, 2003

Ok CD 1 isn't all that great and that's really all I have as far as CD 1 is concerned.

CD 2 and 3 are awesome! 2 and 3 have that nice trance blend going for it along with progressive beats.
I gave it 4 stars because of 2 out of 3 being awesome isn't bad at all. More than I was expecting. :-)

A must by for Trance fans!
This 3CD set rules! Nice tunes especially on the 2nd CD which is my fave of all the 3. Didn't care for the 3rd one as much.

Looking forward to the next installment of this sub-series which will be out on May 22nd, '03 I believe. :).

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeded my expectations!, November 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Gatecrasher Residents Transmission (Audio CD)
This is the best compilation Gatecrasher has ever put out.

3.5 hours of blistering dance music, compiled on 3 CDs by Gatecrasher residents Scott Bond, Matt Hardwick, and Eddie Halliwell. 'Crasher fans have been asking for a compilation in this format for months. And now the promoters have finally responded by putting together one of this year's most exciting trance collection.

Scott Bond's CD offers a unique blend of hard and progressive trance with a euphoric twist. All the tracks in his mix kick arse. it is really hard to name any particular favourites. Matt Hardwick's CD is a lot more euphoric in nature. It includes the latest vocal trance smasher from Oceanlab, "Sky falls down", the newest top quality tune from Fire & Ice, "San Antonia", as well as Armin van Buuren's latest collaboration with LV, "Sunspot". Eddie Halliwell's CD begins with a mellow introduction, followed by a brilliant set of hands-in-the-air tunes by Plastic Boy, Signum, Rank 1, and the latest remix of Cafe del Mar by Marco V (just to name a few).

Overall this is a terrific compilation. It will not disappoint.
