Book Description

October 31, 2006

Every serious student of the occult is familiar with this all-powerful text. Within it lie the secrets of eternity, the forbidden knowledge of the dark unknown.

Every journey into the shadows requires careful, measured steps—a proficient execution of the necessary rituals and spells, and an understanding and appreciation of the history of the world beyond.

The Gates of the Necronomicon is an invaluable companion to the Mad Arab's original work. In it are essential keys to the nuance and complexities of the ancient grimoire, enabling all who dare to pass through the magical gates that separate the body, mind, and spirit; the past and future; the living and dead.

The journey begins . . .

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Simon is a student of magic, occultism, and religion since the mid-1960s and the editor of the Necronomicon, Simon was a frequent lecturer for the famed Warlock Shop in Brooklyn and the Magickal Childe Bookstore in Manhattan for more than ten years before his sudden disappearance in 1984, speaking on topics as diverse as religion and politics, occultism and fascism, ceremonial magic, demonolatry, the Tarot, the Qabala, and Asian occult systems. He also conducted private classes for the New York City OTO during this period, with a focus on Enochian magic, "Owandering bishops," and Afro-Caribbean occult beliefs. An ordained priest of an Eastern Orthodox church, Simon has appeared on television and radio discussing such topics as exorcism, satanism, and Nazism. The media events he organized in the 1970s and 1980s -- with rock bands, ritual performances, and celebrity appearances -- helped to promote the "occult renaissance" in New York City. After decades of study in European, Asian, and Latin American cult centers, this book marks his first public appearance in more than twenty years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Open the Book., April 28, 2008
This review is from: The Gates of the Necronomicon (Mass Market Paperback)
The occult elitists and churches don't want the "common man" to know that he can go out and buy an inexpensive grimoire, of a system that may or may not work for him, and possibly attain spiritual enlightenment on his own. I say, if it is your path, take the book and go out and become that hedge wizard, swamp witch, nomad mystic, etc. As with all things involving faith, and that includes Christianity, no system will work for one that does not believe, and have faith, in it.

I've been seeing people talking about Orion and how they are/were confused when it was revieled that the constellation they should have been looking for was the big dipper. Anyone who cares to do the research on ancient, and modern, Middle Eastern and Asian references, considering the geographical regions the Necronomicon is said to hail from, to the great bear will find, rather easily, that it refers to a grouping of stars of which the "handle" of the big dipper makes up the "tail". For those who didn't know this small, easily found, bit of information, chalk it up to geographical and cultural differences. If it is, or was, working for you, don't give up, just redirect your rituals. After all, a motor running when it's out of tune doesn't get thrown away, it gets retuned so that it runs much better.

This book clarifies what is in the Necronomicon. It puts into plain language what is required and what needs to be done to carry out the ceremonies of self initiation within. It also warns that the spirits one may summon, Zonei or Azonei, will not be forgiving if improperly summoned. That small piece of knowledge is a constant through many systems of magic wether one is calling on ancestor spirits, demons, devils, angels, gods, elementals, etc. But it is a warning that can't be given enough and should allways be kept in mind.

4.0 out of 5 stars A New Way To View The Multiverse, January 19, 2007
This review is from: The Gates of the Necronomicon (Mass Market Paperback)
Blessings,

I have been a practitioner of many different systems of Magick including Wicca, Solomonic, Templarian, Discordian, different forms of what is now called "Shamanic", and Hermetica. I have used many of the seals and sigils from Simon's Necronomicon and The Necronomicon Spellbook.

But, The Gates of the Necronomicon really had my mind open as I read its passages. This book opens up with a chapter on what is Reality, Sanity and Fantasy. It gives you the basics of what it means to be a practitioner of Magick, and what to watch out for, and what to know before attempting anything.

Part 1 opens up with wisdom to see the background of where we came from, a new view of that beautiful constellation known as the Big Dipper and Arthur's Wain. Or for my group called Tie eldalieva, the Valacirca. It shows that this constellation is "true" North, and the center of our workings. That indeed, the misguided notion that Orion held the Gate to the Source is wrong, and that the Gate really lies within the Big Dipper. Each of the Gates mentioned in the Necronomicon lies within the 7 stars of this constellation, and that through dedicated workings you can pass through to the Outerworlds.

After this, it opens up the actual Rituals to True Initiation and Enlightenment. These rituals are well written and do indeed Work. As with any set of work towards enlightenment, it takes time, and a severe testing...each Gate must be worked on a certain date of our modern calendar, and the end of the book has the correct calculations of these dates from 2007-2018.

Prepare to face your Makers in this book, and become all that you can be with The Gates of the Necronomicon.

Spirits of the Sky, remember!
