The occult elitists and churches don't want the "common man" to know that he can go out and buy an inexpensive grimoire, of a system that may or may not work for him, and possibly attain spiritual enlightenment on his own. I say, if it is your path, take the book and go out and become that hedge wizard, swamp witch, nomad mystic, etc. As with all things involving faith, and that includes Christianity, no system will work for one that does not believe, and have faith, in it.I've been seeing people talking about Orion and how they are/were confused when it was revieled that the constellation they should have been looking for was the big dipper. Anyone who cares to do the research on ancient, and modern, Middle Eastern and Asian references, considering the geographical regions the Necronomicon is said to hail from, to the great bear will find, rather easily, that it refers to a grouping of stars of which the "handle" of the big dipper makes up the "tail". For those who didn't know this small, easily found, bit of information, chalk it up to geographical and cultural differences. If it is, or was, working for you, don't give up, just redirect your rituals. After all, a motor running when it's out of tune doesn't get thrown away, it gets retuned so that it runs much better. This book clarifies what is in the Necronomicon. It puts into plain language what is required and what needs to be done to carry out the ceremonies of self initiation within. It also warns that the spirits one may summon, Zonei or Azonei, will not be forgiving if improperly summoned. That small piece of knowledge is a constant through many systems of magic wether one is calling on ancestor spirits, demons, devils, angels, gods, elementals, etc. But it is a warning that can't be given enough and should allways be kept in mind.

A New Way To View The Multiverse,
This review is from: The Gates of the Necronomicon (Mass Market Paperback)
Blessings,I have been a practitioner of many different systems of Magick including Wicca, Solomonic, Templarian, Discordian, different forms of what is now called "Shamanic", and Hermetica. I have used many of the seals and sigils from Simon's Necronomicon and The Necronomicon Spellbook. But, The Gates of the Necronomicon really had my mind open as I read its passages. This book opens up with a chapter on what is Reality, Sanity and Fantasy. It gives you the basics of what it means to be a practitioner of Magick, and what to watch out for, and what to know before attempting anything. Part 1 opens up with wisdom to see the background of where we came from, a new view of that beautiful constellation known as the Big Dipper and Arthur's Wain. Or for my group called Tie eldalieva, the Valacirca. It shows that this constellation is "true" North, and the center of our workings. That indeed, the misguided notion that Orion held the Gate to the Source is wrong, and that the Gate really lies within the Big Dipper. Each of the Gates mentioned in the Necronomicon lies within the 7 stars of this constellation, and that through dedicated workings you can pass through to the Outerworlds. After this, it opens up the actual Rituals to True Initiation and Enlightenment. These rituals are well written and do indeed Work. As with any set of work towards enlightenment, it takes time, and a severe testing...each Gate must be worked on a certain date of our modern calendar, and the end of the book has the correct calculations of these dates from 2007-2018. Prepare to face your Makers in this book, and become all that you can be with The Gates of the Necronomicon. Spirits of the Sky, remember!

This review is from: The Gates of the Necronomicon (Mass Market Paperback)
Unlike its counterparts, the necronomicon and the necronomicon spellbook, this title, the gates of the necronomicon offers a less biased perspective onto the topic of paganism and witchcraft and mythologies in general. Albeit much of the book is a guide toward questionable ritual, there is a lot of information offering an interested perspective on comparatare ive mythology. dont let people talk you out of reading his one because the probably havent even read it. if you curiousjust check it out and find out for yourself. I bought the package through amazon with the three books and was not dissappointed at all. this one is my favorite and i am almost finished with it.

Simon Takes You for a Ride,
This review is from: The Gates of the Necronomicon (Mass Market Paperback)
Remember all those gatewalking rituals you thought you were performing? Actually, they don't count. You needed to go through the gate at the precise moment when two stars in the Big Dipper line up on a north-south line. If you don't use this Chinese celestial meditation-derived method in your Sumerian workings, it won't work.Likewise, remember how the Zonei were supposed to be helpful beings who will aid us against the aliens who want to destroy humanity? Well, now we find out that those people are just as bad, and that we need to be really cautious about them. I give this book two stars for the entertainment value of watching "Simon's" defenders realize they have to do an about-face on major points of their beliefs to remain orthodox.

amazing research,
This review is from: The Gates of the Necronomicon (Mass Market Paperback)
Simon has done his homework. This peice is a classic. It is very informative. It covers Chinesee magick and Taoism. It ties a lot of magical concepts together. In its own little way this is a masterpeice work. It is a valuable addition to occult lititure. The amount of information in this little book is amazing. It ties the Necronomicon together with the rest of the magical world. It makes the Necronomicon a real grimore. This is a valuable read and I highly recommend it.

Your life will change,,

This review is from: The Gates of the Necronomicon (Mass Market Paperback)
I have read all three books and I must say that this one does help answer some of my questions. With that being said I would recommend this book to anyone who already has experience with Occult or Simons other two books. If you are not experienced then please do not play around. Once you start (open the door) you must continue on. For ex. This isn't a read it one time thing and then say i'll do it later, it just doesn't work that way, I wish it did. I am currently learning that lesson first hand, TRUST ME when I tell you that this is not a game and is something you should not take lightly. You have to control what's in the book and not let it control you; that's not an easy or simple task, and it is one that I have not yet completed. Your sanity will depend on it!

...Edward Simon, Simon Edwards and Howard Phillip walk into a bar in Islington,
This review is from: The Gates of the Necronomicon (Mass Market Paperback)
BarkeepA plague upon this howling! they are louder than the weather in our office. Re-enter SIMON EDWARDS, HOWARD PHILLIP, and EDWARD SIMON Yet again! what do you here? Shall we give o'er and drown? Have you a mind to sink? SIMON EDWARDS A pox o' your throat, you bawling, blasphemous, incharitable dog! Barkeep Work you then. HOWARD PHILLIP Hang, cur! hang, you whoreson, insolent noisemaker! We are less afraid to be drowned than thou art. EDWARD SIMON I'll warrant him for drowning; though the ship were no stronger than a nutshell and as leaky as an unstanched wench. Barkeep Lay her a-hold, a-hold! set her two courses off to sea again; lay her off. Enter Mariners wet Mariners All lost! to prayers, to prayers! all lost! Barkeep What, must our mouths be cold? EDWARD SIMON The king and prince at prayers! To the towers! Let's assist them, For our case is as theirs. SIMON EDWARDS I'm out of patience. HOWARD PHILLIP We are merely cheated of our lives by drunkards: This wide-chapp'd rascal--would thou mightst lie drowning The washing of ten tides! EDWARD SIMON He'll be hang'd yet, Though every drop of water swear against it And gape at widest to glut him. A confused noise within: 'Mercy on us!'-- 'We split, we split!'--'Farewell, my wife and children!'-- 'Farewell, brother!'--'We split, we split, we split!' HOWARD PHILLIP Let's all sing with the king. SIMON EDWARDS Let's take leave of him. Exeunt EDWARD SIMON and SIMON EDWARDS HOWARD PHILLIP Now would I give a thousand furlongs of sea for an acre of barren ground, long heath, brown furze, any thing. The wills above be done! but I would fain die a dry death. Exeunt Return to top of page ... or ... Go to next scene Edit this post | Permalink

Pedantic ... but necessary ...,
By Damien Thorn (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Gates of the Necronomicon (Mass Market Paperback)
Nothing beats the use of real power and the ability to master the minds of men. The art of performing a ritual before practicing an act is equally as important as the act itself. Having the conviction and purpose to live as you are supposed to and should takes effort. With a little practice, achieving even the faint glow of inspiration is valuable. Here we have the ancient grimoire that creates more questions than it does answers, and for a reason.

This review is from: The Gates of the Necronomicon (Mass Market Paperback)
For decades, TEENAGERS all over the world who turn away from the worship of JESUS CHRIST have been drawn to THE NECRONOMICON and other of Simon's books, seeking information on BLACK DEVIL WORSHIP MAGIC, of which Mr. Simon is an EXPERT. THE NECRONOMICON only serves to increase their ACCESS to that information. My childrens' minds and the minds of other peoples' children should never be suffered to see such blasphemy as is in THE NECRONOMICON. Is it possible? JESUS teaches to be on guard and without love for information like it... Take care, with the crooked doctrine of blasphemy which is Simon's THE NECRONOMICON, that you are able to recoganize it, and when it becomes the little child, begrudge him NO END of punishment if you see him turning to it. Only inside of the HOLY BIBLE is JESUS to be found. Is there so much DECAY inside you that you would would heed THE NECRONOMICON's twisted message? Turn to the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST instead and thus prevent yourself from loseing touch with the Providence Kingdom within.THE NECRONOMICON book is of bad intention and is the essence of pagen teaching. It contains NO measure of JESUS, and spans from time to time from more horrible in mind to more horrible inside. Experiencing these teachings which are immoral from that place, to be, uglier, THE NECRONOMICON is all kinds of FILTH, obviously composed by an enemy of ALL CHRISTIAN MEN. JESUS is not included inside THE NECRONOMICON book anywhere at all. Does the book include YOU and YOURS? Of the dirt which it does include is the demoniac egg of falsehood itself. The result is a troublesome, un-CHRISTIAN song. Those who want to be studying the book, their souls are immoral and dangerously aside, and they are given charge of the trash on the table. And all this by a religion inside our very society! FEMINISM-WITCHCRAFT'S LIES ARE ILLEGITMATE and SHOULD BE AS DISREGARDED HERE AS THEY ARE IN THE MIDDLE EAST!!! Even the enemies of AMERICA KNOW this... THE NECRONOMICON and it's subject matter and all of pagen AMERICAN culture peels rancidly back like a slimey onion of rot. Unlike Mr. Simon and his THE NECRONOMICON, I bring the good news of love from something which IS legitimate, built up with centuries of FACT, and that TRUTH is JESUS! The demoniac perspective of THE NECRONOMICON does not deserve the examination which defends the dirt inside it, and is, altogether, quite apart from TRUTH. It is not innocent and the only reason to open it is in order to avoid becoming one of JESUS' converts. And as most of CHRISTIANITY does know, the path to SALVATION lies in kneeling down and ACCEPTING, WITHOUT RESERVATION, the TRUTH of CHRIST'S HOLY LOVE FOR ALL CHRISTIANS, just as the little child intends us in heart to form TRUTH in one conversion. JESUS is this child and he taught the FACT that one must love RELIGION above ALL. The Providence Inherency stems from the HOLY echo of JESUS himself, and if you do not want to be giving TRUTH a betrayal with external darkness and fear, REJECT books like THE NECRONOMICON. I PRAY for you, that you will give attention to this review and stay as far away from books like it as possible. They are ILLEGITMATE. AMEN. |
