NO! IT'S NOT YES!,

I don't mean to be glib with my review title but these guys do sound eerily like Yes on some songs. Actually, these guys sound like a combination of Rhapsody, Yes and Therion. If you haven't heard some of these groups, that means they sound good. The first time I heard Epic Power Metal. I thought, I could really get into this if they would slow down just a little, especially on the faster songs. I was listening to the self proclaimed "Hollywood Metal" of Rhapsody. Then I discovered some other groups that played similar music but at a slightly slower pace that would allow my overtaxed mind to absorb and appreciate the music. Now, everyone knows that a lot of Power Metal bands are from Italy but most of the bands I found which played at a tempo that was appropriate for my taste were from various other countries. There was Sonata Arctica from Finland, Dragonland from Sweden, Freedom Call from Germany, Kamelot from (surprise)U.S.A. and last but certainly not least, Dark Moor from Spain The Spanish melodic power metal band's third release The Gates of Oblivion captivates the listener from the first track. Each song is a masterpiece of epic power metal with the support of an orchestra and a couple choirs. Dark Moor continues to combine thrilling arrangements and grand melodies with the ingredients of classic heroic epic power metal. This album is an invitation to loose ones self in the music, each song is a highlight, a new world that comes upon the listener. When the song "By the strange path of destiny" is opened by the unbelievably beautiful voice of Elisa C. Martin, you melt away. That's right the singer is a woman. I was surprised too, her voice could easily be a man. In fact she sounds a lot like Jon Anderson. The Gates of Oblivion is almost 56 minutes of top shelf melodic power metal. CURRENT MEMBERS FORMER MEMBERS Jorge Saez -1999-2003 Drums To bring you current the above three members have left Dark Moor and formed a new band with former members of the French power metal group, Heavenly. The new band is called Fairyland. The departing members have all since been replaced. It remains to be seen whether this is a nuisance or a setback fo the remaining members of Dark Moor

Dark Moor - Gates of Oblivion,

OHMYGOD! This album is incredible. Any Metal fan out there who has not yet listened to this band is missing out. I know that many Metal fans cringe at the thought of symphonic elements in heavy music, but this really rocks! This is Symphonic Power Metal at its finest. Great band, brilliant album!

The Spanish melodic power metal band's latest release The Gates of Oblivion captivates the listener from the first track. Each song is a masterpiece of epic power metal. Dark Moor continues to combine thrilling arrangements and grand melodies with the ingredients of classic heroic epic power metal. I believe The Gates of Oblivion is one of the four best albums I have ever heard of this genre, the others being Hastings 1066 by Thy Majestie, Crystal Empire by Freedom Call and A Time Never Comes by Secret Spere. You may not have heard of any of these groups but trust me they are good.Back to the cd at hand. This album is an invitation to loose oneself in the music, each song is a highlight, a new world that comes upon the listener. When the song "By the strange path of destiny" is opened by the unbelievably beautiful voice of Elisa Martin, you melt away. The Gates of Oblivion is almost 56 minutes of top shelf melodic power metal. Highly Reccomnded!
